since i can't purchase items from newegg (won't accept canadian credit cards) I took at look at memory prices locally.
cheapest i could find was $270 canadian for 2gb of 667 or $200 for 2gb of 533.
dell's upgrading my laptop from 1gb of 533->2gb for 90 canadian...which is cheaper than...
bump.
i was hoping to order the laptop today, so if anyone knows any reason why using the 2gb of 533mhz ram vs the 1gb of 667mhz ram is a bad idea please let me know.
Thanks in advance and sorry for being so pushy while asking a favour :P
I'm currently considering buying a inspiron 9400 (canadian here) and in the customization options there are a few memory options that confuse me (noob here).
the processor in the system i'm looking at is the T2500 with a 667 fsb, the memory options include 1gb@533, 1gb@667, 2gb@533, and...
its a deal even its cas3...just not as likeable.
newegg has the cas3 gig package priced higher than the cas2.5
go figure.

I was thinking of picking up a stick or two of this corsair memory:

Is this stuff ok for a person who doesn't really want to overclock and is using it with a barton 2800 (166x2 fsb)? That is, is it relatively...
I have a windows 2k install on the following system:
asus a7n8x-e deluxe
msi geforce4 ti4200 128mb
audigy 2
512mb of value pc2700 ram
athlon xp 2800+
Everything installed fine and there wasn't any problems at first. After a while I noticed that whenever the computer gets mildly busy...
I have a system with windows 2000 just freshly installed on a 40gb formatted drive. The system is a 2800+ barton on an asus a7n8x-e with 512mb of pc2700 generic ram and an audigy 2.
Everything seemed fine but I've noticed that there is an increasingly annoying delay between when keys are...
thank you kindly. :)
i was aware that 166x2 =333
but i wasn't sure if that was how the board would report it or whether there was actually a problem.
thanks alot :)
i did a search on the sticky regarding the a7n8x boards and didn't get any results so i thought i'd make a new post (please excuse the lack of capital letters...yes, i'm lazy).
i have recently installed a a7n8x-e board into my comp. It has an athlon 2800+ (barton) and a 450w p/s. the memory...
Hi,
I was looking at buying a cheap, but relatively decent, 5.1 speaker set.
I was looking at the klipsch Promedia GMX D-5.1 and was wondering if anyone had any comments on these speakers. If you know of a better set in the sub $150 range, please advise me. :)
Thanks for your help guys.
thing is, the systems i'm building with these are going to be replaced in a year or so anyway, so that little extra oomph probably isn't required (sempron 3100+ vs barton 2800+). And since its a 754 chip i'd probably replace the motherboard regardless when i upgraded to a 939 a64 chip in a year...
I just bought (last week) an athlon xp (barton) 2800+ and asus mboard a7n8x(? i think that's it..)
I'm worried that I would be better off with an sempron 3100+ (socket 754) and a 754 motherboard. I can still return them if i need to but I wanted to know the opinion of those more...
so final purchase will be the asus board with an athlon 2800+ (barton).
my bro (who making purchase with me) is completely against overclocking..so i guess we'll spend the extra money.
thanks for you help everyone - esp you schro
i've decided to get the asus board, since its the same price at newegg (50 cents more..) anyway and you folks say its better than the abit board in layout and some features.
as for overclocking, thx for the tips with the fans.
my only remaining question is whether an overclocked 2500+...
