Funny coming from a guy that spends way too much time on the forums and not enough time living their life. I've been on these forums a few YEARS longer than you junior (look at the join date)... might want to rethink that image ;) . Swear to god kids these days are getting stupider by the minute.

As I said in my first post, these types of threads bring out all the a$$hats, present company included.

 Uh oh...

Anyway, so even though it's delayed, we're looking at a fall release? That doesn't worry me that much. NVidia can't very well bring out a new architecture by then. As long as R520 was designed right that's what it will take to beat it.

The dude needs to get a fucking life and check his facts before he makes an ass of himself.

And you're sitting here waiting to reply within two minutes of a new post? Take a chill pill.

LOL and who just added an image to their post. BTW that one is a few years old as well. :D

lol and give it anouther R4XX core name!!!

Seriously, it's a freakin video card! If you want to get worked up about something, buy a subscription and get yourself a soapbox in GenMay so you can rant about sweat shops in China or starving children or something. R520 and the GTX will be obsolete before they're released anyway.

I'm not worked up at all and could care less. I already went through my brand loyalty phase a long time ago. Not to mention, I have some experience in the industry.

What irritates me is some kid that has a high post count in 13 months that thinks speshul. LOL if anyone should be running that race it's him. :D

I guess I'm just sick of the same shit on a different day. Prefer to spare all you youngn's the agony and stupidity these threads always generate.

im betting a few of thoes posts up there are going to be deleted..... :D

PLACE YOUR BETS!

this one will go to :D

... R520 delayed, I heard that it will release on August instead of July. I read it once on one of article somewhere on internet. Dang it, well ATI when will it release?

Like some people have said before, I think ATI is planning a 9700 PRO all over again. I still have my 9700 PRO on my main rig, and it can still run anything I throw at it and keep steady FPS. Not bad for a 3 year old card...

That card simply won't run some of the more intensive games at what I would consider high quality settings and at what I consider good FPS.

LOMAC, BF2, and FS2K4 to name the few that I enjoy most.

My 9700 Pro could run all of those at medium details at 1024x768. Pretty damn impressive for a 3 year old card. Its not suppose to be top of the line anymore, hell, its probably the longest latest core technology in the modern 3D era.

I can run everything on medium in BF2, and still keep 60+ FPS.

I don't consider "medium" acceptable, that's why I put in the "what i find acceptable" caveat.

I like, at a minimum, 1280x960 4xFSAA and 8xAF all game settings maxed. Preferably, I like 1600x1200 with the same FSAA, AF, and game settings.

That's the problem with all these "is the GTX worth it" posts. What I find acceptable may not be anywhere near what somebody else finds acceptable. ;)

that may be ATIs problem though. since you are so satisfied with your card, you won't be buying a new one, which doesn't help their financial bottom line. They need to produce crappier cards so that you upgrade every time around ;)

No, I still bought a X800XL, and a 9800 Pro for that matter too.

is that suposed to be a joke?... cause it was dumb...

because a picture of a simpson's character is obviously directly relative to release schedules from a semiconductor company....right?

Delays, paper releases.. such is the nature of the market. Both nVidia and ATI have both had problems with releases, and with a diesize change, it's kinda inevitable.

I think that both companies have been around long enough that a hit taken during one quarter of business is probably not enough to cause too much "financial trouble". Seeing as how they're slated to produce imbedded products for two next-generation consoles (Is that confirmed, btw?), have a relatively nice market in mobile graphics, and have tremendous resiliency and a loyal fan market...there's a lot to keep them aloft in the event of problems with a new GPU.

A lot of people say that ATI is secure because of the XBOX 360, but I don't necessairly think that's the case.

Microsoft's pollicy with the xbox seems to be "lose money on the console, but make money with the software" and it works, but the companies who make the hardware are gonna wind up getting the shaft. I'm sure the x360 is going to sell well, but I honestly don't see ATI makeing a large profit off of it, but rather breaking even. This combined with the desktop market profit losses is not going to be good for ATI.

This is how it works. ATi designs the GPU. Sells it to Microsoft. Microsoft loses money and tries to make it back through software.

ATi does not make money from every XBox 360 sold unless that's the deal they made with Microsoft. I find it hard to believe that that is the case. ATi already got paid for it or will get paid for it.

What they're doing right now is unknown. I don't work for ATi nor do I know someone who works there. They have not released any news to the public and we do not know if any news that was released is official. If you want to know more, you can go to Markham and ask the guys that work there.

Here is the location using Google maps.

or satellite image for more detail
satellite

Just don't forget to post back with a recording of what they tell you. Most likely; Security Officer voice "Get out" ;)

Some people say "no news, good news", but in this case, since it's been awefully quiet lately at ATI's HQ, I think they may have another FX5800 Ultra on their hands... or they have a card so powerful and are so confident about it that they're just waiting for better yields. Whichever way it goes though, currently at least, nVidia is on the ball with performance and availability. Which is a good thing because it keeps their competitors focused. :)

er...FUD

thats not how the relationship works.. ATI WILL make decent money from the Xbox 360.

I'm sure everyone remembers "PowerVR. They made the chip for the dreamcast
http://www.powervr.com/

I'm sure everyone is using one of their "Kyro" video cards.

There are no guarantees in this game. MS got burned a little on their original deal for chips with the 1st XboX, I would be the deal was more in their favor this time. If anything ATI may have been paid no more than a consultation fee.

there is a reason why MS didnt opt for anouther Chip from Mvidia... could be the prices?.. the comaprible data.. or Nvidia not having a great performing chip to present... or Nvidia didnt like the profits from last Xbox... and MS gave a offer to ATI they couldnt refuse... i would like to know the story of why MS chose ATI over there last chipmaker Nvidia....

Maybe Microsoft is holding a grudge against Nvidia for what happened with the xbox

Because it seems Nvidia is a bitch to work with, both M$ and Nvidia came out of the deal unhappy, M$ more so (really a lot) than Nvidia. Its been pretty well known for awhile that MS loves ATi. Shown by the early DirectX 9 specs given to ATi, Xbox 360 getting an ATi GPU, hell the Xenos handles tons of things for the Xbox 360, a lot more than what a normal graphics card does, Xenos is basically an ultra powerful northbridge.

Dont forget, this is going to be the second generation in a row ATi is doing the GPU for Nintedo, so that's another sign ATi is just simply a nice company to work with.

Two major console deals, this means either: A.) ATi's future parts are looking much more powerful. B.) ATi is simply a easier company to work with than Nvidia. C.) Nvidia turned down deals for some weird reason to only handle the PS3 chip.

Either way, both companies are pretty secure for the next 3 or so years I'd say.

BTW: All consoles are designed to lose money at first. PS3 will do it, Xbox 360 will, and so will the Revolution. Its just the nature of the business, spend money now make it later. There must be something all three know about the chips they are using that we dont know, or it could possibly just come down to that Nvidia is filled with assholes and people dont like to work with them. :p

damn very nice Skrying.... got some big points in there that couldnt go without saying....

its funny.. they started up anouther thread about the delay and its turning into a consol discussion too...
