Droid

But the devices coming out next year will blow even this Droid away.

Exactly, I just dumped my iPhone because my ass hole hurt form the price raping, and dropped 3G service every other block.

I got the MyTouch 3G from T-Mobile, the monthly bill is almost cut in half now  :D With tax for the iPhone on ATT was like $180, the MyTouch full Unlimited everything package is $79 per month, plus the phone cost added in at like $16.25 = total bill of $97, but NO CONTRACT, can leave when ever I want.

And word is that T-Mobile is next in line for the hottest new Android device, the "Snapdragon" platform will come to them first. So as cool as the new Moto Droid is, and the best Android device today, come Q1 2010, T-Mobile will get theirs, and they have updated data service going into effect this winter, with much improved 3G service.

My biggest gripe with the Moto Droid, is the monthly bill is close to ATT  They need to wake up and come down to reality of Sprint + T-Mobile prices. $160+ for a cell phone every month is a fucking joke from Verizon. Both Sprint and T-Mobile are below $99 for unlimited everything on their Android phones.

That's the thing people seem to be forgetting. Droid is very cool, and I myself am excited about what it has to offer. But this isn't some amazing one-of-a-kind phone. Droid is what every android phone is going to look like in 2 months. So there is no way I would even think about doubling my monthly bill to get it!

Hater. :p

Agree w/ you about the keyboard though. For me though, this phone's got Android 2.0, the tasty OMAP + VR whatever GPU, and that good old fashioned Moto sound quality. The other issue I had w/ the TP2 would have to be the looks. It just screamed, "I'm fatty." :D

Yeah, the TP2 is a good bit thicker but it actually feels good in the hand and some of that thickness is due to the keyboard and speaker phone. Haven't heard how good the Driods speaker phone is but I would really doubt that its as good as the TP2.

Not hatting the Droid at all. I'm thinking about getting one for the wife so that I'll have both a Windows Phone and a Droid for development purposes. The issue will be the data plan. I already have two with Verizon, on the TP2 and a data card. I really don't need a third.

But the HD2 and the Passion look better than this device, though no hard keyboard.

I freakin' LOVE using speakerphone. Problem is, mine have pretty much always sucked. I can't imagine how awesome it must be to have a good one.

This is probably the coolest feature of the TP2. You place it face down on a surface while in a call and it goes to speaker phone, one that's actually good!

A thousand apps just can't make up for this type of slick and capable hardware that's actually about a good phone! Not MP3 or media player or crap apps nest, a PHONE! Unbelievable that a smart phone actually is a great phone these days!:)

I don't know. If it were to sound as good as the Sony X, that would easily top the speakerphone factor for me...like, by a longshot. But that's a pipedream, lol. Somehow I don't think Sony's going to source out their S-Master Amp to a Moto phone, haha.

I'm waiting until they offer data only plans.
Someone wanna fake me some deaf certification papers?

Yea, luckily my New Every 2 comes up November 6th...what luck! Headed to pre-order at Best Buy tomorrow.

Does anyone know the New Every 2 price? I haven't upgraded a phone since 2007 so I'm assuming I should be eligible for it unless I lost that eligibility since my contract has been up since June or July.

It's usually $100 off right? So would it be $300 - $100 NE2 - $100 MIR = $100? Is this right?

By the time Tmobile gets any traction, Verizon will have thrown the 4 switch and the game changes again. We are talking 4G coverage equal to current 3g levels

It USED to be $100. I got $100 off last Feb on a Storm purchase from being grandfathered in. I think you had to be in a plan above...$59.99? Is that right? Now it's much less, like $50 or $25...lameNESS.

But yeah, I think you're golden and set for a $100 DROID! ;)

Get both docks and a Phantomskinz for the screen w/ the money saved!

I am pretty sure its 199$ for new every 2

2 yr price:
$299 - $100 rebate/debit = $199 after rebate
(usually online will waive it, telesales can do it too, BB's also taking the MIR for us)
*The whole MIR thing especially w/ so many ways around it now's completely ridiculous. I wish they would just do away w/ it. I want someone to make an Android game where all I do is fling rebate cards @ a Verizon rep's face! Preferably one w/ a little button that says, "The real Jacuzzi!!1111"

New every 2 discount from way back when:
over 59.99 plan (or was it 79.99?) = $100 discount
under 59.99 plan (or was it 79.99?) = $50 discount

New every 2 discount today:
over 59.99 plan (or was it 79.99?) = $50 discount
under 59.99 plan (or was it 79.99?) = $25 discount

According to what the Verizon rep told me when I called Customer Service, my plan ($90/month) qualifies me for a $100 discount.

I'm on a family plan and our plan together is $150 and we've had this plan for probably 5 years now. So I guess I'm looking at $200, $150 or $100 after rebate. I'll have to go to a store next week or call when I have the time to figure it out unless there is someone here with a definitive answer.

Edit: Nevermind. Apparently I'm not signed up for New Every Two somehow.(?!?!?!?!) I'm not sure how that works since the other two lines are singed up for new every two. I know I can use that upgrade but on my line but we don't want to extend the contract on the plan since I'll be splitting my line off here soon.

Uhhhgg... somehow I new I was going to get screwed by Verizon and here it is... not only are their plans expensive (the price of good coverage and service when traveling) but somehow I'm the only one on our plan not signed up for new every two when my number is the original on the plan and is 5 years old.

dude, you did not get screwed, your line generates 9.99 a month in revenue, do the friggin math. Wholesale on the phone is 560.00. Your cable company does not buy you a friggin TV set every year and you pay 10 times that. God , get over yourself lol.

Your relatives screwed you by being the primary line, and the secondary that gets new every two would have to have been grandfathered years ago and therefore your wrong about your line being the first.

Those are old prices, not showing T-Mobile's latest update, for Unlimited everything plan with contract it is $99, with no contract but paying full retail for phones it is $79  That's a killer fucking deal, and ATT and Verizon have nothing close to match that. And Sprint is just as good on the full Unlimited package, if not better deal compared to T-Mobile.

What the Fuck are ATT and Verizon smoking , thinking people will pay a $170+ monthly cell phone bill including tax  That's a fucking joke, and even more sad now that T-Mobile redid their pricing. Your a tool if you go with ATT or Verizon for their raping. I think anything over $99 a month for Unlimited minutes, Texting, and Internet is a joke, and total rip off. Thank God for Sprint and T-Mobile

I do not care if she is half price, she is still ugly, I want the hot blond in the corner. You take the pig with lipstick

I think you're taking me a little too literally about getting screwed but how sweet would that be if Comcast subsidized a new TV for me ever couple of years.

And mine is the primary line, but we've done so much reworking on our plan since we got it so many years ago that there is no telling what's happened.

lol...project dark...lol

Granted the DROID makes me feel like I'm going on a date w/ Darth Vader. Which oddly I'm ok with. Excuse me while I roll around in the PDF manual all printed up on my floor now...

The operative statement is " we've done so much reworking" . This means some Verizon rep sweated his ass off doing alternate upgrades to keep your family happy and his thanks is you telling the Universe that Verizon screwed you when in fact a Verizon rep got creative , utilizing , with your full knowledge and consent, all of the tools made available to him to prevent you from feeling screwed on a number of prior occasions.
