I was trying to re-install Roxio on my parents computer. After the install, it said changes will take effect after you reboot. So I restarted only to find that my DVD ROM and DVD burner do not appearin My Computer. When I open up device manger, both drives have a big yellow exclamation point...
i ran that and it pulled up a user accounts window, but i can't find where to change the auto login
on the users tab, i have a box for users must enter a password which is unchecked
then on the advanced tab, i have manage passwords and a password wizard and then advanced user management...
so on my home machine, when you start it, it comes to the welcome screen and you have to click the user account you want to use ("home computer"). then it starts up and everything is fine. so i was trying to figure out how to make it start right up without going to the welcome screen just so it...
I own a sony dcr-pc1 handycam. i've had it for 5 or 6 years. it came with a firewire cord to connect to a pc, but i'm not aware of any software that came with it. i'm looking to upload videos from the handycam to my pc and then burn them to dvd. i'm kinda lost on how to accomplish both of those...
it won't let me restore to before the upgrade. i tried to restore to the earliest point, but it restores to still having sp2.
i can get the desktop and all to load, but the itis running ridiculously slow and getting hung up on things that it shouldn't get hung up on.
any thoughts on how to...
i was upgrading to xp sp2. about 3/4's of the way through (upgrader said it was "finishing installation" and "cleaning files"), it froze. upon restart, windows loaded, but no taskbar, start button, or desktop icons and i pretty much couldn't do anything.
any thoughts as to how to fix this...
well it doens't only happen on burnt movies, it does it on the original too.
video card is the stock card from dell and it's two years old.
drivers maybe?
ok, there are a number of things that could be causing this problem so i'm not even sure if this is the right forum
nvidia 4200gt or something like that with the latest drivers....when i play a burned dvd (back up of my own dvd) on fullscreen mode on my dell 15" flat panel, there are lines...

i've had one for just over a month now and it's done great
it's amazingly quiet too....i have a lite on dvd rom and i hadn't use it in a while, but it is so much louder than the nec burner
