Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Thanks for the tips, everybody! Just placed my order with Newegg. A deal more than $50 as I needed Windows 7 and have been hurting for drive space for a while now:
ICY DOCK
OCZ Agility 60GB (SSD)
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800
Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional...
Thanks for the recommendations, guys. Here are my specs for more accurate ones; sorry I didn't include 'em!
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
Intel C2D 6600 @ 2.4ghz
2GB DDR2
Nvidia 8800 GTS
Cheers!
I've been out of the custom PC game for a couple years now and have realized all my knowledge is pretty worthless. I'd like to upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit but need more RAM (well, I need more RAM in general.) I could buy some DDR2 or I could just go ahead and get a new mobo/proc now. I'm...
Ah yes, I was quoting the space on 4 drives not 3, but since it is RAID 5 I suppose I can just use 3. I am thinking 3x250gb drives in RAID 5 will be more than sufficient for the VMs. Then another RAID 5 of 4x500gb or something for NAS. I'll look into the Quad Core, too.
I still don't know...
Well, we'll need to test different configurations as far as OS's go in addition to different web servers / versions, databases, language versions, etc. Excluding the different OS's I suppose it would be possible to create a bunch of different configurations on one server, running various web...
Here's what I've got in the line-up so far:

2x Kingston 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 ECC Registered DC Model KVR667D2D4P5K2/4G

Hey all. Well, I think I've finally determined the most cost-effective and efficient setup for my home-office network. Now I just need some advice on what sort of hardware I'm going to need and a quick confirmation that what I want to do is relatively easily achieved.
I have attached an...
Around September of last year I upgraded my gaming box with some of the latest goodies: DDR2 RAM, Core2Duo processor, nice Mobo. For one reason or another I decided to wait on upgrading the video card. Lucky that I did, too, because not three months later I was summarily shipped off to...
Yeah, I figured that out pretty quickly myself. I thought there was more to NAS than met the eye, but I suppose not. I'll just get the ol' server running again and figure out how to use Samba this time.
My biggest qualm with using Windows Server is that all of my web servers run Linux. If I want to create an environment close to my deployment platform, I will probably run into problems doing that on Windows. Problems with missing packages, things I can't compile, etc. I don't have that issue...
I figured more along the lines of what I need is a home server, which I ran for quite a few years in the past. I certainly don't want it running Windows, though. I have a feeling it would be far more incompatible with the Linux and OSX machines. Is that true?
Looking ahead to when I return home and further on to when I move mid-2008, I would like to get a NAS setup for the myriad computer and computer-like objects that litter my life. Here's what I will have upon my return (roughly):
1 x MacBook Pro
1 x Mac Pro
2 x PC (XP/Linux)
1 x XBOX...
Phew, been a while since I've seen the familiar black and red of the ol' [H]. Perhaps it's caused in part by becoming a Mac convert or maybe being deployed this whole year, but I digress. When I return home early next year, I plan to purchase a Mac Pro to make the Apple takeover of my life...
