I've been out of the custom PC game for a couple years now and have realized all my knowledge is pretty worthless. I'd like to upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit but need more RAM (well, I need more RAM in general.) I could buy some DDR2 or I could just go ahead and get a new mobo/proc now. I'm wondering how much longer DDR2 is going to be relevant and how vast an improvement DDR3 is over it.
Which would you choose: Go from 2GB DDR2 to 6GB, or just replace the whole shebang? If the latter, which socket/proc would you get? I only use this PC for gaming and media (HD video, etc.), mostly playing Starcraft 2 at the moment.
Thanks fellas!
