OpenTTD is the trick. You need some data files from the windows version of TTDX, though.
www.openttd.com seems dead at the moment, while the sourceforge page is up.

And BTW: I have some hope for Locomotion. No, scrap that. I'm giddy with anticipation. :D

Also, Locomotive looks quite interesting. I really liked the RCT interface, much more than the TTDX interface.

Actually, it's an open source project :)
(Check back now and then, it's being very actively developed)

And I've only played TT(dx), so I can't compare the interfaces, though I really like the TT one. Extensive use of the keyboard helps :D

And about Homeworld 2, that game is f00kin hard as hell. I continued to get destroyed by the comp. And the controls are a bit strange and very tough to get used to the 3d environment.
