The Nintendo Switch 2 Thread

Some Walmart doesn't say DK on it so must be ok.

Crimson Collective hacking group, known for the breach on Red Hat, now claims to have breached Nintendo

Pretty cool but that Labubu can go straight into a fire.

Anyway I want those First4Figures Bowser and Mario & Yoshi statues.

What is the current outlook for this console? It seems to have a very Wii-U feel to it. Anyone regret their purchase?

Initial sales are better possibly due to the fact that many thought Wii-U was a peripheral. The competition field is a bit different now. Switch 1 was contesting with XB one X and PS4 pro as well as cheaper non- pro versions. Switch 2 is against the PS5 Pro and if course non-pro PS5 and XB Series. They will also have to compete against ROG handheld.
Overall, I would argue the Switch 2 still has less competition given the 'current gen' is now 5 years old.

Have they done enough work on back compatibility? It would be awesome to see old n64, gamecube, and wii games reworked or at least given a quick upscale with a locked 60 fps. That doesn't seem to be the case from what I've read.

My brother likes his, and it seems to be doing okay, considering a lot of people are probably perfectly happy with their switch, and also spending money is a bit limited lately (or so I've heard). I imagine it's not doing much better than the switch did, but that would still be very good imo.

I kinda do, but I knew what I was getting into when I bought the thing. It's yet another scenario where I bought a system for a handful of Nintendo exclusives and the first one (Mario Kart) was a letdown. The others aren't out yet. I'm excited for Duskbloods, but that might not be available for a year. It also looks a little bit ugly since the S2 isn't exactly a powerhouse. Smash might never come out, and I feel pretty confident F-Zero isn't a high priority either. It is what it is, but I'm getting WiiU vibes from mine.

Nintendo is not competing with any of those consoles. When it comes to handheld sales it has already beaten all handheld including the Steam deck combined proabaly. All these handheld system exist because of the switch. They will never attain the same level of success because they are missing Nintendo secret sauce. I still believe all these handheld are a flop and no one wants them.

Appreciate the honesty and yeah, I've heard that there was alot of issues with the Mario Kart online. Prime 4 has its share of criticism too. Aside from DK Bonanza, all of the top selling titles seems to be Switch 1 ports.

It’s already outsold the switch in the given timeframe. It’s projected to outsell the switch by a substantial amount. I don’t regret the purchase. It’s my primary system, and if a game is on it I buy it over my PC now. I don’t really care if my PC is technically more powerful and looks better, I’m getting old and just want something that works without me fucking around with it.

I've enjoyed my S2 so far, esp. the larger screen while I'm traveling. I only played my S1 docked for the first several years, then the last couple years I had to travel more and played it portably. The OLED gets almost double the battery life of the S2 though it seems, so the battery life hit sucked, as well as the downgrade to the mediocre LCD.

I would have preferred another 800P or so OLED at 90hz like the Steam Deck OLED over a 1080p LCD that can't really benefit from 120hz with the low response times it has.

As for games, I haven't played MK World much still, maybe over the break with the fam. Checked out DK Bananza from my library and it's ok.. Not as good as Mario Odyssey for sure, but decent enough I guess. I've mostly just played TotK on it and old NSO games on it so far. And also playing through the Tomb Raider 1-3 collection as well.

That is why I have not bought one. I had one in my shopping cart a few weeks ago, but ultimately decided against it since Prime 4 is on the original Switch, and the $70 price tag for the game makes no sense.

As I outlined in another thread, the Switch 2 is potentially appealing just because of where I am in life: the parent of a young child.

I don't have much time after work, and most of that time is devoted to family. I might have 30 minutes to game at most, and heading into the living room or my home office isn't always practical. A Switch 2 would let me squeak in some gaming whereever I am, would be easier to put down in a hurry, and wouldn't monopolize the TV. It's something I could use before (or even in) bed.

I also want to keep my child away from gaming for a long while — I want them grounded in real-world play and social interaction first. The Switch 2 would let me stash the console where my child can't find it, so I only have to introduce them to video games if and when they're ready. And if they are, I'd much rather start them in Nintendo's world (where there are more kid-friendly games and a less toxic online space) than throw them to the wolves.

I only got the switch 2 largely for Prime 4 and the Zelda’s with 4k/hdr. Although honestly, Prime 4 is stunning on the switch given the hardware limitations.

It's so annoying that we have yet to get a patch for the Xenoblade (1-3) games on Switch 2 to bump up the resolution and visuals. Got fed up waiting so decided to try emulating Xenoblade 3 on PC. I tried last year and it would crash constantly, seems stable now, 10 hours in and no crashes. I stopped playing this on Switch 1 when it came out because the frame rate and resolution sucks, Switch 2 stabilized the frame rate to 30fps but it would be a night and day improvement to get a boost in resolution and 60 fps...

It should be coming soon. They just released a patch for Xenoblade X. I stopped playing X because the frame rate was terrible. I brought the patch but I have a few games I want to go through before going back to it.

dude, thats just some rando idiot trying to put blame on the switch, and it was last summer. "i played for 1.5hrs and THE NEXT DAY i had a headache" come on...
Yeah ... I played the crap out of the Switch when it first came out for like 5 hours a night for like two weeks and I was fine.

Fallout 4 Switch 2 Review vs PS4/PS5/Xbox Series S- 30/40/60FPS Modes Tested

Fallout 4 arrives on Switch 2 with an ace up its sleeve: support for 30, 40 and even 60fps...without question the 40fps mode is the ideal middle ground for improved latency, while Switch 2's visuals tend to match the base PS4 release closest...

Glad to see Switch 2 adopting 40fps modes; 40 fps felt great to me on PC handhelds and the 40 fps mode Forbidden West had on PS5.

I bought it, but waiting to play until DLSS is implemented as Bethesda has claimed they will be adding soon. The fact that the switch 2 can run the game as good as it does and it’s not even using DLSS is very impressive. With DLSS I imagine the 60 fps mode will look as good as the current 30fps mode.

Pokopia game is really good. Basically Minecraft and animal crossing with Pokémon.

Probably going to get a switch 2 and pokopia foe the wife. She played the hell out of animal crossing, and stardew valley, so I'm sure she will love this

Well, bit the bullet and picked one up for myself (traded in a ps5 towards it). System transfer process scared me as I didn't want to mess up my son's account (he mainly plays on a Switch Lite), so skipped the system transfer and went for a user transfer for myself.

Excellent build quality and I like the larger size. Too thin for my liking and ill be ordering a grip for it ASAP.

Zelda TOTK runs beautifully on it, and is much more preferable playing it here than on my pc with its shader stutter.

Virtual game cartridge seems kinda goofy, but also a fair way to handle drm/game sharing.
