Is it just me or do some of those look worse than CryEngine2?
So the engine can render shadows? Not impressed. You want to see a good looking engine, go check out Project Offset.

To be more precise, its being developed to allow better scaling for consoles. Supposedly, the full potential of the engine is still on par with Cryengine 2. We'll have to see.

CryEngine 1.5.
Seems that this thread was flooded with the same people that criticized Crysis, because they couldn't run it on their 3 year old machine @ high settings...![]()
what do you expect from a console focused engine?
cryengine 3 is being developed for consoles.
A console-focused engine is what the whinging PC community deserves after a million people cried "unoptimised!" because their poor 6800GTs couldn't run Crysis at 1920x1200 with max settings and AA.

The good news? Crytek will provide another two years' worth of boohooing. Yay!
Some of the screenshots look impressive, which show off effects I didn't notice in Crysis/Warhead. Particularly the indoor one with the floors reflecting the light and illuminating the walls. I recall vividly how horrible some of the lighting in Warhead was indoors. The first thing that came to mind was the resort area near the end of the first level. The entire room of the structures were completely illuminated despite the absence of a light source.

Sounds great to me. Being a PC gamer that is just one less piece of trash I have to sift through on the shelf.
Consoles: Curing the PC infection one game at a time.![]()
yea by killing off the good as well as the bad bacteria that causes the infection meaning you kill everything ie no good pc games anymore
Like the big bang? kill everything and start all over?
none of those shots will be at 720p at above 30fps on consoles. i guarantee you this mate.
Oh ye of little faith. I've had crysis running well on a 7800GTX at 1024x768, mostly medium settings. When you factor in the improvements made to cryengine 3 plus console-specific optimizations, 30fps at medium to high settings is quite attainable.
