I've been debating this. I have a fairly kickass PC as well as an Xbox 360. Here are the pros and cons:

PC:
+) Superior graphics
+) Superior control scheme
+) Free multiplayer
+) Cheaper ($49.99)
-) Probably buggy
-) Inevitably I will spend too much time tweaking and not enough playing
-) I hate Windows

okay, so those last three cons don't seem that bad. Anyway

360:
+) Achievements :D
+) Guaranteed experience (no tweaking)
+) Probably less buggy than PC version
-) Sucky controls
-) Lower resolution
-) Pay for multiplayer
-) More Costly ($59.99)
Is there anything I missed? What should I do? (I really don't know)

I find this thread pointless. If you can't add or subtract, windows has a built in calculator.

You probably don't know this, but the Doom 3 is known for being almost completely bug free, so that shouldn't be a problem with the PC. How do you have to spend time tweaking? Ask it to autoselect settings, and there you have it. The graphics are supposed to be the same for both. If you have a good computer, you will be able to play on high settings, with the 360, you will get to play on high settings no matter what.

Even though my computer doesn't have enough power to look as good as a 360, the free multiplayer, and control scheme far outweigh the worse graphics.

Now that I've played the demo and I know that it runs well on my PC, I'm definitely going with that version.

Additions to your list worth considering:
PC version:
+ Cheaper ($49.99)

Xbox 360:
- More Costly ($59.99)

thanks, I added those. it's looking like more people dig the PC version.

Net code still stinks. Lag like I haven't seen since dial up on most servers. I don't know if this will also apply to the 360 version.

Also, there is no reason to believe that the 360 version will be less buggy. With the advent of patches on the the 360 devs are lazier about making the final version of the game bug free.

Just look at the weaknesses you listed yourself.

Each one is a major drawback. All together, I think they'd nail shut the coffin on any game for most players.

According to Scott Miller the 360 has better graphics check the front page.

Ok, seriously, do we really need these PCvs360 game fucking threads? What is the freaking point? Buy the damn version you want, ones a console onces a PC plaftorm with slight advantages/disadvantages to both, get over it, we don't care! These threads are gayer then Richard Simmons sucking the creme out of a twinkie.

You sure about the "superior graphics" part? The Highest settings on the pc and 360 should be the same. Shouldn't a larger screen be a plus for the 360?

didnt the creators say that when they release the full game, that they will be basically identical for 360 and pc?, thats what i heard from one of the interviews.
the only downside would be price, but that always an issue, so i dont think it matters, either way its gunna be a great game on both pc and 360.

Have you tried the demo......I wasnt that thrilled.......rent the 360 version first to see how you like it.......if it rocks your boat, then get the one you want.......I think MP would be better on the 360 (more stable, less lag) and if you have a 360 chances are you already pay for XBL anyway. Wait fo rthe 360 Demo to come out....thats what Im going to do before I plunk down 50-60 bucks.

I want to try the demo on 360 before making a decision, I don't know if one has been released on Live yet though, I have'nt checked.

Don't throw away the PC just yet. The FPS king is still firmly perched in it's throne. Thank you.

I'm not surprised. I've got the GRAW demos on both my PC and 360 and the 360 demo looks better.
The only reason I'm getting Prey for my PC is due to my preferring the mouse/keyboard combo for shooters.

fps=pc
the end

EDIT: wait thats not the end.. :p with the pc you have mods.. MODS you hear dat? on the 360 they make you pay out of your ass for every single tiny thing.. you want a map pack? yea gimme 10 bucks, at least those things are still free on pc, for that reason alone i'll buy it for pc

the demo ran with no lag or slowdowns, everything on full detail,1280x1024 and full AA AF, look at my sig. my pc is not high end, boi was i happy.

PC version. There are a lot more pluses (especially the controls and the ability to tweak). Oh, and FREE ONLINE! :D

I'm definately getting the X360 version because i've had it preordered since around Jan or sometime there. I've given up on PC gaming since Nov 22 last year and probably won't go back to PC's untill a killer app like Crysis finally get's released.

i vote pc, if you all remember when quake 4 (runs on doom 3 engine) came to the 360 and usuing HD the game would crawl to its knee's, dunno if it was a bad port or what, but i figure Prey MIGHT have the same issue, + i don't own a 360 :)

The Prey demo runs good on my system @ 1280x1024 no AA/AF, haven't tried to turn those on.

They ported it to Direct X though, word is this has fixed frame rate issues. I won't believe it looks better until I see it. I highly doubt it. It would seem most likely they would look the same with PC getting the nod by res etc. I can play it no sweat at 1920*1200, 4xAA, 16x HQ AF.

The fact we have to talk about it makes the x360 a great machine for the money. Reviewers have also stated CoD2 looked better on xbox. I can only hope for the sake of these journalists that after they had that garbage printed they managed to get the morning crusty boogers out of their eyes. Same scanrio. The res difference is clear.

360. I don't play games on my PC anymore. I find I prefer playing cames on the couch with a controller. Even for fps I like the controller better. Feels more comfy and natural to me.

I can all but guarantee Prey looks better on my PC than it does on the 360 - and as I read his comments he was referring to the interface only (with the hawk motif) when he said it looked better than the PC version.

Shrug - I like a mouse for fps.

I have a good rig that can play it, but I'm buying the 360 version.

61" DLP ftw!

Thats a joke, i had a customer that has a XBOX, he didn't know he didn't have it @ 1080i, so i fixed that and when watching the intro on COD2 on his Mitsubishi 52" projection set, i still wasn't very impressed when going from 480i to 1080i, i bet it would look good with my computer on a Bravia or a 30" dell LCD.

Still couldn't beat the price and ease of the x360. So the trade off is fair i would say.

I'd say get the 360 if you have a huge HDTV set, and don't want to hook up your PC to it for whatever reason.

really, its been a few years since i used linux, so Wine wrapper must have come a long way.
the 1337est game I've gotten to run in wine is Jazz Jackrabbit 2. We'll see about this Prey thing tho!

I'm pretty sick of the PC upgrade cycle and video cards are becoming ridiculously expensive. Which is why I got the 360. I'll be playing it on my 50" HD plasma and will only consider a PC game if I can't get it on the 360.

I don't have an XBox 360 anyway, but even if I did, I still prefer PC based FPS's. The controls alone are the reason for this.

I own a 360 but definitely getting Prey for PC instead (Higher framerate / Mouse control) Ive been playing it online a lot today and find it very addictive ..Cant wait for the retail version. :D
