Minecraft

Finished the exterior of my monstrosity in pirate cove. :D

I have a problem/obsession with symmetry.

Looks great!

I've started to hit bottom on my "Dante's Inferno" stairway...I'm going to make an express-ladder system once I get the bottom level figured out.

Probably next week i'll invite people to go through it.

Where are you building it? Near Pirate Cove?

While its great to build up Pirate Cove you have completely disregarded my build that took hours and hours to make. I spent days digging tunnels connecting points on the map. My "hidden tunnels" entrance at Pirate Cove has been completely destroyed. My sign was taken down, my door was taken and my torches were taken, oh and my ladders. Not only that my tunnels were dug out and now contain someones containers. Im super pissed off. Complete disrespect for fellow players.

Where was all of this? I didn't remove anything for my build. That's the reason I chose my area. It was just open land.

I'm sure the situation can be rectified if we find out who built over your stuff.

Its not a big deal and I will get over it, but really...they even took my fucking ladders?...cheap.

:( Yea that sucks.

There are a lot of newer builders on the server and if I had to guess, I'd say it was one of them. I can't see any of the people that have been on a lot with us doing something like that.

Is one of the houses in my screenshot on top of or near where your stuff was?

The building farthest to the left is the bar which was an original building. Then insomnibyte's building, my building, the chest building which was original and finally someone (no idea whose) else's building off in the back and to the right.

the containers are mine :-/

i dug down and started digging around and actually stumbled upon your tunnels.
I was going to work on putting some different blocks down for the flooring in some of them to make it transition into my 'lair' with the same flooring i'm putting down...

I can put back some more cobble stone blocks if you want :)

also, that unfinished building in the rear is mine. i didn't even know about your tunnels until i hit into them underground :-(

if it makes you feel any better, arr4ws built over my project in pirate cove before anyone else had put down any buildings... lol

again, sorry man, didn't mean to interfere with your build

I'm sorry harsaphes! Everyone loves the tunnels! Trust me! ocbaud admitted to digging into them, and so we know it wasn't a malicious attempt. When you are online at the same time as me, we will fix it up and ocbaud and us will work around it! It shouldn't be a problem :)

That is one thing that underground mines and tunnels don't have.. Visibility from above hehe.. on Hardcraft I had loooong diamond mine tunnels, and I bored into the neighbors spiral mine shaft 3 times lol. Just remember guys, that this can happen a lot! Just fix the intrusion as soon as possible! If you cannot fix it in time, leave a sign or message somewhere so the person knows what happened! Signs work well for this! ;)

Especially when building in an area nearby others, you have to assume there might be tunnels, or mines underneath or around you. Mines and natural caverns, in my opinion, are kinda hard to keep personal.. Many mines hook into caverns that hook into other people's mines.. We can protect areas with signs and sealing any exits. There is more room underground for hidden mines and personal areas, sometimes it requires running about 200 - 500 blocks away from others to probably insure your mine will be undiscovered and left alone for a long while. :)

oh yeah, who is foobix? He put a torch and "brown poop" or something on a sign near my top secret entrance.

also, i started work last night on a tunnel running from under my place straight out to water. I want to connect it to all the buildings, kind of like a sewage system.

whats everyone think?

me likey... do it

its already ran right underneath all the buildings in the picture above.I'm going to work on making it look more sewer tunnel like and have the buildings owners decide where they want an entrance at.

Awesome! let's also make a pipe go out to the lighthouse!

I started it last night (but didn't have time to take a screenshot).

yeah

i want to have the sewer running under ever building, even if the building owners don't want to put in an entrance/drainage

oh ya, problem with the server also

a creeper killed me last night, and when i respawned, NONE of my items had dropped and I was out everything in my inventory. all my tools, cobblestone, wood, etc.

nick i believe was also having the same issue.

Yeah, I had a similar problem. I was relocating a chest, and destroyed it with a bunch of items still in it. All the items dropped, but I couldn't pick any up. I logged out and back in and all the items were gone :(

I lost quite a few stacks of iron, cobble, wood, and lumber. Luckily my tools and a few stacks of misc. material I already had in my inventory.

are there any commands that let you determine your location in the world? like grid coordinates? would be handy for blind digging if you're trying to connect things.

The Dante's Inferno stairway isn't really near anything. I made sure of that. :D

Dante's Inferno is close to my fortress. I'm not disclosing its location right now, but will after I need help in expanding the underground levels.

You're right Hash....if I've learned anything from this game, is that if you're building BIG, prepare yourself to think BIG, or you'll have wished you would have built bigger afterwards. I'm going to expand the stairway I think, so its 10 blocks wide going down instead of the current 5. It seems smallish, and not "grandiose" of what I was hoping for.

Can I get build rights on Hashland please, (same as forum name here)? Don't think I'll actually be building a whole lot of stuff but I'd like to ride the Epic Coaster and can't since I don't have a cart. Well, it's really just my wife who'd like to see the coaster ride. I suppose I do need to go ahead and get her an account so she can monkey with stuff on her own.

I added you to the builders list!

Also, HashLand is down, as I am preparing to move it to the new server. =D

New server will have 24 player limit, east coast location. I am just waiting for FTP, and SSH access to the server to start setting it up, and I will then post the new address for the server in a post here once it is up and running.

Thanks everyone for waiting until I can get it moved, and once it is done, I'm quite positive it will be much more stable and faster than the old server. =)

I understand your annoyance, and would like to apologize for any hardship I may have caused you during this scheduled downtime. I would like to offer my Filthy Pirate Hooker services in compensation for the lack of server access. =D

Uploading the server contents as I type this.. Stay tuned to this thread! I hopefully will be done, and the server up and running around 1:00 - 2:00 pm CST ( It is 10:14am for reference )

Also! If anyone has a recommendation for a free forum host site, let me know! I don't need anything fancy, nor complicated. I simply would like a forum that can be easily setup for easier communication between myself and the people on the server. Also, so I do not spam this thread with personal messages and announcements pertaining to my server only, and not Minecraft in general. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it! =)

Does that mean I can have your reserved plot of land in pirate cove? ;) Wait, I mean....don't leave! :D

I could always throw up a subdomain off one of my sites and install phpbb or something like that. Won't take too long. Though my webhost kind of sucks right now. So I can't promise much.

Well I put a space in the name of the zip file of the server files, and apparently there can't be a space.. So I had to rename the file.. I noticed their ticket window did not format the hyperlink properly, and therefore was not working.. I assumed they know how to copy and paste in order to work around that, but apparently not... They obviously just tried clicking in the ticket window, and it wasn't working..

Either that, or they are using command lines to extract and install on the server, in which case, spaces in file names are a problem... I really hoping the latter here, because I'd seriously question the integrity of a server hosting company that cannot get around a broken hyperlink by using copy + paste...

Normally I wouldn't care, but since I am communicating through a ticket window, its been averaging 2 - 3 hours between the time I answer, and they reply.. So a simple space in the .zip file name causing hours of hold up is fucking annoying.. My fault, should have never put a space in the file name...

Anyways, HashLand is being worked on, and hopefully I will soon be posting the new server info here and you can start joining! =)

linux doesn't like spaces in anything, files, folders whatever, a space usually represents the end of a command or the start of an arguement for a command.

what host are you going with? how come you can't just transfer files over FTP or SFTP or whatever it is

Yah that is exactly what I was thinking when I thought about the name I gave the .zip file as it was about 75% uploaded... I never put spaces in my file names, however I do add spaces in my folder names.. Since I've been creating and organizing folders a lot lately, I mistakenly forgot I was renaming a .zip file and not a folder.. :p

Host is Provision Host. I am assuming they are still setting up the FTP and SSH access, and will only give me the details after the server is initially setup, which requires them to grab the existing server files from somewhere first.. I should then after be able to retrieve and add files via FTP and utilize the server with SSH Putty or whatever.

Still waiting on ticket reply.. Hopefully next reply is telling me the server is ready to go.. :p

Finished the main Train Station at the spawn

So here's a story for you; My wife bought Minecraft and was all excited that she started the game with a wooden sword, though disappointed that she wasn't able to quickly remove a block of dirt with it. I didn't think much of it at first but then I was like "wtf, you don't get a starter sword in single player". so I loaded up a new world with her around and she was like "well there's the sword!". I told her that what she is seeing is her toon's arm and she was like "ohh ....".

Ah the little joys in life. ;)
