She [Tati Gabrielle] is blasian (black and Asian) and is an advocate for trans and non-binary nonsense. She's also bisexual. I can tolerate how this character looks because she at least appears to have some personality, but this stuff is getting quite old. Neil Druckmann is a moron, especially after his comments on that third episode of the Last of Us HBO adaptation. I'm going to be avoiding season 2 entirely for the same reason that I couldn't even finish The Last of Us 2 game because of all the garbage in it.Manly looking multi racial female lead character (who is probably also gay) in a game that looks ripped straight from Guardians of the Galaxy. No thanks
Not easily triggered Pepper G. When someone tries to force something down your throat, you fight back. But if this is your type of game then by all means support the devs.Buzz cut lesbian already triggering the easily triggered, I see
It takes two seconds of Googling her to see exactly what the problem is. The only weak people are those calling others weak. It's projection because they'd rather bury their head in the sand than confront reality. It's blatantly obvious the direction that Naughty Dog, and Neil Druckmann, have been going these last several years. Not easily triggered Pepper G. People are tired of ugly protagonists.the protagonist looks like a tough chick, which is obviously what the developers intended...same as V in Cyberpunk...what are people going on about?
Like Dragon Age / Bioware or Indiana Jones / machine games? or Star Wars / Ubisoft? Yea, big names don't mean anything anymore. I'm glad to see people started making buying decisions with their brains instead of just cooonsooming. There are no guaranteed hits anymore, they must win over players with the actual game, and that's OK.it's Naughty Dog so it'll definitely be a major hit...I

The willful blindness is astonishing. First off V is customizable and you can make her look anything you want, second he can also be a man.the protagonist looks like a tough chick, which is obviously what the developers intended...same as V in Cyberpunk...what are people going on about?
Bioware made Dragon Age Origins and Mass effect trilogy under EA, all of which were huge successes. Machine Games was everyone's darling after Wolfenstein New Order. And Indiana Jones is one of the biggest IPs in entertainment. If that doesn't give you built in sales that means there is no longer a built in audience, because they alienated them. And remember naughty dog is coming off of TLOU2, regardless of my personal feelings on the game, it alienated a ton of people. They should've brought out a peace offering to the audience, instead this is a clear declaration of war.BioWare hasn't had the same reputation for years (ever since the EA merger)...Machine Games was never on the same tier as Naughty Dog...even so the Indy game seems to be getting high praise...nothing is guaranteed but Naughty Dog is pretty close to a sure thing...the developers that don't put out games every year or 2 combined with a new ip means the anticipation level for this will be very high

I think it's a little too early in terms of what we know about it to be boycotting it for thatNot easily triggered Pepper G. When someone tries to force something down your throat, you fight back. But if this is your type of game then by all means support the devs.
I'm hoping for a Redfall sequelI'm ready for Concord 2. Yall are just a bunhca haters!
How about you do the leg work since you apparently know why? You want me to tell you what my crystal ball says next? Jordan A. Mun (lol) will be a they/them.Can you ask your crystal ball what the target exactly is?
And you think the reason it sold half as much is because of wokeness? Maybe you should do some research.
Yeah. She's insufferable. Insufferable people being hired for video games seems to be all the rage lately. How about you do the leg work since you apparently know why? You want me to tell you what my crystal ball says next? Jordan A. Mun (lol) will be a they/them.

I always take it for granted that when people attempt to insult, the topic will be the thing they themselves feel most insecure about.Hahaha...oh my god.
If you somehow still end up playing this game in the future, don’t worry, a rubber pair of truck nuts hanging off your bumper will provide the exact same level of masculinity you think the game deprived you of.

Now that we know what your biggest insecurity is, how about making an actual argument? Or is that too much to ask?
Never knew I was a homophobic idiot. Learn something new every day I guess...Wokeness had zero influence on TLOU2 sales. Well, maybe 0,01% due to some homophobic idiots.
Fresh IPs usually do worse on their first installment, and they increase in popularity with further releases if the quality is there. Case in point: Mass Effect 1 sold 2 million copies, ME2, sold 5 million copies, ME3 sold 7 million copies. It's common sense, that TLOU sold way more. TLOU was a fresh IP and hyped to oblivion. It launched on three (!) console generations. It was heavily bundled and was practically giving away for free since 2015 with every PS4 during holiday seasons. Wokeness had zero influence on TLOU2 sales. Well, maybe 0,01% due to some homophobic idiots.
Expressing disinterest is not "getting triggered". I know the protagonist will be like a burlap sack with a bowling ball on top of it, that's my Bechdel Test. If this is how they represent women, they either hate women or the audience, possibly both. You guys getting triggered by a game character in the very first trailer, about a game we know nothing about yet.
There is nothing to wait for, unless they change the protagonist, which we know they won't. EDIT: Or maybe they do change it, for the worse. Like they did with TLOU2. The first trailer has shown a thinner less butch Abby, than the final game. But sure, I'm the one here who's showing off his insecurities, LOL. The only mature response here so far came from grifter_66

It still made enough money to not be a flop, but it could've made at least 50% more if word of mouth was positive.

Both those sequels were lambasted for being shittier than the originals. The quality noticeably declined, hence the drop off in sales. What about Spiderman 2? What about Horizon Forbidden West? A major drop off in sales too.

I am not referring to the access media whose bought opinions mean fuck all. There is a reason Dragon Age Cringeguard is a financial failure despite universally glowing reviews from hack critics. Try again.

he said sales, you argue about scores...
The actress herself isn’t super attractive or anything, but devs have yet again “uglified” the final product for no particular reason. She’s certainly much better looking in real life, though she has has become another unfortunate casualty of the woke mind virus. I don’t think the lead needs to be particularly attractive, but statistically speaking, both men AND women prefer playing attractive characters. This is a simple fact. There’s also no reason why a character has to be ugly just because they are tough. The two are not mutually exclusive. This was a choice by the devs.I'm going to give this one the benefit of the doubt until I'm not given a choice. I've loved every ND game and even liked season 1 of LoU quite a bit. I put off watching it for months because of all the talk but when I finally did I loved it. As of now I have no problem with the design of the lead and she seems to fit with her being a bounty hunter/rogue type. To me, based on what little we know from the trailer, she doesn't look like a character that should be more "girly" or attractive in that way. I don't think she's ugly just not classically pretty.
I also don't mind gay/lesbian characters if it fits the story and is written well as long as it's not solely for the purpose of "the message" like the new Dragon Age.
Whataboutism? OK, What about them? They were both worse games than the originals, not received well by the general public. Even if you can find one game where the sequel sold less for no reason, it would have no bearing on TLOU where sales pattern is clear whether you acknowledge it or not. TLOU tripled it's week 1 sales in a month. TLOU2 only managed to double it in a year. That's pretty clear influence of word of mouth. What about Spiderman 2? What about Horizon Forbidden West? A major drop off in sales too.
The numbers don't lie. If TLOU2 had the same legs as TLOU it should've also tripled its week 1 sales by end of week 4, but it only just managed to double it in a year. I was actually being extremely lenient with the +50% estimate, based on the raw numbers I could've said +100-150%Yeah, in your mind. In my opinion, you are greatly overestimating the influence of this shitstorm on sales.
Since you can't engage with arguments, and you can't formulate a proper counter argument, I think that is for the best.I can't take you serious anymore. I'm out of this thread.
Games need selling points, simple as. If you frontload your marketing with a lesbian space boss most people can't relate to, you should at least make her pretty so we can at least relate to that. "But that's sexism" No, it's natural biological coding. Straight men (who are still the majority of core gamers, despite bogus statistics trying to suggest otherwise) are willing to tolerate much more BS from attractive women. It is a result of tens of thousands of years of evolution. Neil Druckmann or any other "progressive" game director won't be able to override that with their conversion therapies masquerading as games.I think for lot of us, to be fully immersed in heavily driven story driven games, we need to relate to protagonist. Otherwise our immersion is broken.
Specifically for this game, some of us may have a hard time identifying with a bald lesbian. Not because I dislike bald lesbians, but because I don't fully appreciate or understand their world view or daily struggles. So if her identity is a big part of the story, I will just not understand it in a way that another bald lesbian may understand it (I may miss a lot of emotional nuances).
Having said that, if her identity or sexual orientation is not a big part of the story, then I can see liking or relating to this game as Naughty Dog generally does amazing job with their games.
If this was DOOM, I could care less if she was a main character. Yes, it may seem odd to have a bald lesbian as space marine, but there is no personal story - just shooting - so why do I care. Problem with this type of stuff is in games that heavily depend on narrative. Then its all about how it's implemented and whether it breaks immersion for rest of us that don't fully understand struggles that a niche portion of population experiences.
I can separate the art from the artist. I wouldn't care what ideological nonsense she believes in, if the game looked great. Otherwise I couldn't watch any Tom Cruise movie. The bigger issue isn’t the character though, but the people they hire to play these characters. Once you do a quick search on them, you realize there’s going to be ideology-infused nonsense in the game.
You said "wokeness" had zero influence on sales outside of "homophobic idiots". I specifically did not buy the game because of "wokeness". Therefore, I feel addressed. There was a lot of homophobic garbage on social media at the time. There's no denying that. I don't know why you feel addressed though. Some people may simply not be interested in the game at all.
Was there really a major drop off in sales? I'm not about to write a research paper on their sales numbers, but both did comparable to their first installments based on a quick Google search. Probably not the unrealistic exponential growth that shareholder expect, but not a Veilguard level flop either. Plus Spiderman 2 was a PS5 exclusive, and the PS5 install base at time of launch was roughly 1/2 of the PS4 install base when the original game launched. What about Spiderman 2? What about Horizon Forbidden West? A major drop off in sales too.

Do you have a reading/comprehension disability or something?
