Google Chrome vs. IE9

If firefox was still firefox then yes you would win.still better than ie though.chrome just ....
anyways here's my rank.no.1 chrome.no.2 firefox.no 3. ie9.although i must say i do like ie 9 quite a bit. so ie 10 will most likley bump ie into second place for me.
i miss the days when i use to evagelise about the goodness of firefox:(
 
I uninstalled Chrome after using it for a few months due to countless fails, such as a non-scrolling tab bar (I have 50+ tabs open on most days), the lack of a title bar (nothing to grab onto but a tiny edge, can't see the page title easily), its high memory usage (significantly higher than Firefox, due to its multi-process nature), and general instability. Google couldn't code its way out of a wet paper bag.

Having used IE9 a bit and not having found any of such issues with it I'd say it makes it by default better than Chrome :) The only site IE9 doesn't want to play nice with is... Google+. But that's again due to Google sucking. Google+ is an affront to JS-driven sites.

Firefox is still my daily workhorse, though. Stable, low memory usage even with 90+ tabs open, even while having it open for weeks on end. Even with its horrific codebase it's a pretty good browser :)
 
I guess the thing to take from that post is: if you use your browser weirdly, use Firefox.

they lack the plug-ins I prefer to use and can't stand the unified search bar

(And I don't like using spyware)
 
Chrome.

I have many reasons for using chrome but I only need 1 it takes up the less screen space.
 
Do me a favour guys and try this test.

I find if I go to tomshardware and I scroll up and down very quickly on the home page its abit choppy with chrome. Doing the same thing in FF or IE9 smooth as butter i've yet to figure out why.

I get the same stutter you're referring to on tomshardware. I'm using a mouse with a flywheel-style scrollwheel, not sure if that's related.

Also interesting: I opted into the HTML5 trial at youtube, went to youtube.com (just now) and I don't get that stutter.

Possibly that Chrome is fastest with html5 but falls behind for html4? Not really sure if there's a best way to bench a browser.

Chrome doesn't have hardware-accelerated scrolling. Newer versions of Firefox and IE do.
 
I'd use chrome, but chrome utilizes a lot of RAM....IE feels too plain and boring, pages are slowly loading....Better than Safari though
 
No love for Opera and Safari, guys?

Haha, I kid. Firefox is pretty slow on older computers, though (as far as I've tested it).
 
I've found chrome and IE to be equally incompatible with several different websites. You really can't get ahead without having both
 
Chrome here with a little Firefox 14 Beta thrown in on the side for the rare strangely-rendering page.

It's pretty smooth for me in Chrome 20. You might want to try going to about:flags and enable all the GPU acceleration options for all pages, I think by default GPU acceleration is only enabled for pages with certain 3D element types.
 
Chrome guy here. Why would you use IE9? Most targeted web browser on the web. I only use IE if I am forced to access a Microsoft product. i.e. Outlook Web Access (added features).
 
I find it bizarre that a lot of people aren't bothered by the fact that Chrome is the biggest piece of spyware ever.
 
I use ie9. I've wondered about chrome. Can Play bf3(origins requires browser) be run on chrome without any issues?

Yea, the battlelog plug-in installs for all browsers, and it works fine in chrome (well, as well as the battlelog plug-in ever works.)

Besides give you targeted ads (which I like better than random ads about things I don't care about like girl hair products, etc.), what are they going to do? For me personally, it's not the collection of information about me that concerns me, it's what you do with it. Google does nothing that concerns me, so if they want to collect boring information on my boring self, that's fine with me.
 
I noticed Chrome really requires a lot of power from the CPU. Doesn't work that well on my old laptop here, but it works really nice on my desktop.

You should give some thought to where this sort of attitude will lead. It started with the concept of the "user", what do you think they have in mind?

I think it will lead to better products that are free since they are funded by advertisers, more relevant ads which is nice for me, and so on. As far as what they have in mind, I will never know what anybody has in mind, but I suspect they want to make money and are willing to give customers what they want to get that money. Good enough for me. If at any point I don't approve of what google does, there are plenty of other browsers from other companies and organizations, and I'm sure google knows that as well as I do.

If ya aren't doing anything which you should worry about other's knowing then sure. Only thing I'm concerned of: logging into my medical and financial sites. Would rather know that they are not tracked. :)

For me, Firefox all the way.
-Primary reason I don't use Chrome: high cpu-time consumption
-Primary reasons I don't use I.E.: Looks horrible. Incompatibility with older pages. Security.
 
I've been using Firefox for years. Addons such as Adblock Pro and Ghostery make for a clean Internet experience.
 
It is rather interesting how Microsoft attempts to dissuade users from using anything other than Bing by requiring them to download plug-ins for alternate search providers. "Clunky" is kind of an understatement.
 
I'm curious how they even came up with the name "bing" ...

Google Chrome over IE9. IE9 is an attempt to look alike to Chrome, but still has the same old sucky backcode.
