Google Chrome vs. IE9

I like Chrome better, mainly because of its developer tools. It also seems a bit faster than IE9 (particularly, with script-heavy sites).
 
Which would you say was better? In looks, speed and ease of use.

Easily chrome on all 3.

Although I switched back to firefox since I need a few addons that are not on Chrome.
 
I use Chrome and IE9. The GPU Acceleration on IE9 looks great on a 120hz monitor
 
I like IE9 personally. Little things like the inability to middle click a bookmark in chrome and have the bookmark menu stay open annoy me. I thought I found an extension to fix this a while back but I can't find any extensions to do it now. Also being able to resize the bookmark menu in IE9 is nice, where as chrome all the extensions seem limited to a small amount of vertical space. etc.
 
Firefox with noscript and adblock (disabled both on [H] to support forum :cool:).
Chrome is a very close second, IE distant 3rd.
 
I use portable versions of both Chrome & Firefox installed on RAMdisk. I haven't used IE in probably 10 years and have no plans to ever use it. I'm sure it's come a long way, but because it sucked in the past, it looks like they've lost me as a user for good. lol...
 
Aside from Firefox, which is hands-down the best browser (customizability, etc.), Chrome is the champion in a battle against IE9. Superior speed and features.

CPU usage on my u230 netbook.

IE9 = 1% (Very Smooth)
Chrome = 38% and 19% (Smooth) (For some reason, there are always atleast two instances of Chrome.exe)
Firefox = 8% (Least Smooth)

I just did a complete reformat and reinstall last week so these are the latest versions i can download.


Doing a google image search and scrolling through the very long search result, it looks like IE9 and Chrome instantly goes to the new position. Firefox does a very fast panning, hence, why it looks smoother.

If Chrome would implement something similar to FasterFox and a bit more control in the ways of about:config then I would probably switch for good as Chrome's extension directory is pretty large now.

I find Firefox with Fasterfox to be faster than Chrome overall in the broader sense. But there are some sites where Firefox sucks and has issues where Chrome is problem free and blazing fast.

Although since Firefox 13 there has been a noticeable improvement in that regard.

Firefox does need to get their act together and start using multiple cores like Chrome does though. I mean come on already.

One instance is the application instance (the chrome and other logic) and the second is the tab's process. In the event that the tab process crashes, Chrome can recover by using the application instance to spawn a new tab to replace it.
 
At first I did not like Chrome, but once you use it after a couple of week you will be happy that you made the switch over to it. It's very solid.
 
Chrome all the way. It does flex a little between versions and operating systems, but Chrome generally re-establishes dominance in a patch or two.
 
Up to the latest version,I was strictly a Firefox user,but the last update was so buggy I couldn't deal with it,multiple problems with Gmail,downloads,freeze-ups. Never liked IE,so I tried out Chrome,have to say it works very well,at least as good as Firefox before they screwed it up.
 
The only problem I've found with Chrome so far is the top results on search engines have a clustered together/overlapping appearance if you use the page zoom function. Kinda ticks me off.

Page painting is also a bit slower than Firefox with Fasterfox. Firefox sites just load all at once & instantly. Where chrome is more like a smooth brush stroke.

I'm using version 13.0.1 and have not had much of any issue other then it freezing on a youtube video when I tried to full screen it last night. It worked fine after I force closed FF and reopened it. It's been otherwise rock solid.

Maybe try saving your bookmarks then doing a complete uninstall/reinstall.
 
Chrome is absolutely where it's at. Especially if you had an ICS device and can use the bookmark syncing and Chrome to Phone features. I've always found it to be the fastest, and I love the unified search bar.

This. I just found out that chrome has a built-in, free cloud printing service with machines you've synced to. Even the previous comment about backing up your bookmarks in Fox so you can uninstall/reinstall. Why not just uninstall? Fox uses more screen real estate too. So much win with the feature set, and I dig the minimalism to it. I just wish that the fullscreen mode hid the address bar *until* you moused to the top.

Don't get me wrong either, I used fox for years happily. Not hating on Mozilla, sorry if it comes across like that.

Wonder when acid4 is coming out so we can really see who's boss.
 
Chrome by far. Its faster and more responsive (especially with low amounts of RAM) compared to both Firefox and IE. The developer tools are well-made (I believe they were built by the same guy that made Firebug) and easy to use. The only thing Chrome doesn't have that I want is Firefox's huge library of plugins. Theres quite a few that I wish were ported to Chrome.

I've just started using it,so I haven't been through the whole list of plugins available,but I haven't seen a comparable one for Downthemall yet,miss that one.

Firefox 13.0+build1 -- 345 and 9 bonus points out of 500

Chrome 19.0.1084.56-r140965 -- 402 and 13 bonus points out of 500

I had to install aptitude to figure out chrome's version.

Going to play Civ5 until I waffleface into my keyboard. Night! :D
