fav console controller....

AMEN to that. Bring back the Big Man's Controller!

The best thing I liked about the original controllers were the Thumbsticks and the D-Pad, when I imported the S i couldnt stand either of these on it, so I switched out the thumbsticks from the American large one (best decision ever) and I tried to do the same for the d-pad but it was a differnt slot interface I believe, oh well, at least I still have my precious thumb sticks, the new ones just feel like they have too much surface area, dip in too much and arent nearly as soft.

Xbox S. The only thing that could improve it is to make the sticks a little tighter and even around the deadzone.

original dreamcast controller that comes in the box, when it first came out *i dont' know if they ever had different ones*

after that's it's the original xbox controller, i love the big ones, they are more comfortable and feel more well build and responsive than the S controllers i think. i definately do not like the jewel shaped buttons on it though, i wish they would make the original everything but put the controller s face buttons, make sure to leave the white/black buttons in their top configuration, that's my biggest beef with the controller s, position of the white/black/start/select buttons.

ps2, sony has been consistant with that design for 2 consoles (and even using the same setup for the psp) with some minor changes (mainly the vibration and sensitive buttons changed, but the design is the same), mainly because its pretty perfect i think. feels conformatable, not too small, not too big, and the controlls are easy to learn.

I like the huge microsoft ones, I've got big hands, and the ps2 controller punishes me if I play too long

The S controller was designed for the Japanese market, because they have smaller hands. A bunch of people complained, Microsoft made the S controller the universal controller. Had nothing to do with wasting time and resources, and everything to do with regional ergonomics.

That said, if the Xbox controller used shoulder buttons instead of triggers, had two more, made the black and white buttons more accessible, and used a rubberish material for the handgrips, maybe slope them a little, it'd be perfect. As it is, it's the closest to perfect we have.

did you read what i posted right??? LOL1

i suggested that there was a problem with the controller.. that's why they wasted the time and resources.. and as you pointed out. .the problem was regional ergonomics.. that was teh motivation to make the new controller... that's why they wasted their time and resources.. to solve that problem... so it does have to do with resources.. a company has to make the waste of time and money justifiable.. and regional ergonomics was the justifiable reason to put time and effor into a new controller

your reading comprehension doesn't seeem very good my friend

My reading comprehension is fine. You're just wrong, is all.

You're under the impression that Microsoft planned to launch the Duke controller in all territories. From the beginning, they designed the S controller for the Japanese market--one of many things they did with market penetration in mind. It was a small touch, but nice. Given Microsoft's financial capabilities, there's really no such thing as "wasting resources" for that company. It's not like the Duke controller delayed the Xbox's launch or anything major like that. All it did was to piss off some people with small hands.

I like the big Xbox Contoller because I have big hands and when I hold the Xbox S Controller I have to scrunch my fingers. With the big Xbox contoller I can put my hands all the way around it and I don't have to scrunch up my fingers.

Okay, well i didn't know they already had the S controller ready from the start. My question is, why are all the controllers out there small now? cause the big one sucked (at least i think so), even in places where people had larger hands.

i see more small controllers out there than the large one. Last time i checked America wasn't Japan.. can people still buy the larger controllers.. cause all i see are teh small ones

All companies can waste resources lol.. just cause they got a lot of money doesn't mean they can't waste resources.. it just doesn't have much of an impact on the company overall.

I think the gamecube controller was good too..

the analog stick on the gamecube and xbox are by far, better than the analog stick on the PS1 and PS2.. in my opinion..

We already answered this, it's because Microsoft was getting complaints regarding the Duke controller coming standard. It was a vocal minority. Read this thread--most of the "I like the Xbox controller" posts say they like Duke, not the S controller.

Microsoft stopped manufacturing the Duke controller.

I'm well aware of that. We're talking in relative terms here. R&D plus manufacturing costs for two controllers isn't exactly a financial strain on Microsoft.

I'm sure it would've killed Infineum Labs, however.

I personally wish the PS2 had triggers so I could play GT3 and actually vary my speed instead of full power, no power, full brakes, and not have to constantly tap the buttons.

The Buttons are analog as well. Both Shoulder and the main ones. It is possible to cruise in GT3 @ a low RPM, but you gotta be good at it.

Then again a wheel is SOOO much more gratifying.

SNES was the original good.
PS2 dual shock took all that was good about the SNES controller and made it better.
Virtual boy controller was probably the first to have the palm hot dogs, and was super comfortable (I'm fucking sick of Mario's Tennis)
X-Box's controller sucks +2 (no offence to those who love it). I can't think of a more awkward feeling controller.

I like Gamecube controller the best, especially the wavebird. My only gripe with it is that I wish the C-stick was an actually stick instead of a nipple.

Im not as fond of the PS2 and Xbox controllers because on the PS contoller the shoulder buttons arent analog (well they are, but not in the same sense as the GC and Xbox). And on the xbox, the white black start and back buttons seem out of place to me.

acttualy im getting use to the gamecube controller for RE4. at first i was like what the hell how can i play with this damn thing, but after awhile i got use to it

this thing for my XBOX:

pretty fun using a mouse/kb at xbox parties, people are like wtf and then they get pwnt.

go the duke! at least the black and white buttons are in a use able postition and you have to loosen your grip to press'em.

I still pick up the nes controller every now and then and theres something about that rectangle that always feels right!

Sony's all right to, feels just like a game controller, nothing special.

I've always liked the original PSX. It's just felt comfortable for the games that I used to play. The controller always had enough buttons and just felt right. I still use it today now for emulation and PC games. It works great and it's USB :D

sega 6 button controller for genisis. Its still the best controller for fighting games.

Sega does what nintendon't.

Wow thats a nerdy comment. But back on track, I love the Dual Shock 2, it just fits right. And I have large hands! Maybe I never got used to the Xbox controlers but some buttons just require too much movement to be practicle.
