that controller was rediculous.. some of the buttons were uncomfortable to reach.. it didn't feel right.. i like the smaller one.. there's a reason to why they made them smaller...

Why?

i felt it was uncomfortable, didn't feel natural.. the smaller one however, feels more natural.

and i'm sure many people would agree...

why would microsoft waste teh time and resources in redesigning a control.. there was obvious a problem with it.. my guess is.. most people felt the same way as i did with the bigger one... most of my friends think the big controller wasn't great.

original 3 button sega genesis ... had everything you needed.

ps controller was ok but i always hated consoles after genesis with exception of a few ps 1 games.

wavebird is the best for many reasons

maybe steelbatallion or virtual-on twinsticks as well since this is for favorite and not most useful :)

depends on what im playing really.

n64 controller was perfect for goldeneye in the 1.2 solitare setting.

nintendo was obviously perfect for everything

sega gensis 3 button was perfect for street fighter 2

dont really like the new ones. dual shock, S, GC..

Best feel, Gamecube.
Most practical, Dualshock2, followed very closely by XBox S and Dreamcast.

If the buttons were a bit more standard on the GC controller, I'd go with that anyday, ever.

I seem to have a thing for rejected controllers. My big hands like the big original xbox controller. Add in the ability to use the controller with the PC after a little modification (yes the S version works too) and you have a real versatile winner. It burns me that MS isn't making any more of the big ones.

My second fav only because I can't easily connect it to my PC is a little known off brand N64 controller. Saw it labeled by a few different manufactures, it was black and had two handles on it instead of 3 like the original. The stick was put on the left near the directional pad and if you used your middle finger for the Z-trigger, your ring finger could wrap around and hit the L-trigger. It was the only controller for the N64 I know of that you could hit the Z and L trigger at the same time without moving your hands. I felt the joystick was much more robust than the original controllers too. Always hated using a N64 controller with a worn out stick. I would also get strange looks when I played with that thing and my friends hated playing with it too since it felt too "weird" and they weren't used to it.

Oh i just looked at the new xbox controllers...they look pretty cool. im gonna tell my bro to pick one up for his xbox haha

Most comfortable - Gamecube
Most functional - Xbox S- controller

.... for me anyway

So what. I like them for the simple fact that it was easy to use and fit my hands perfectly, but now because of all the complaining from midgets, I am forced to use the midget controller.

The S controller was designed for the Japanese market, because they have smaller hands. A bunch of people complained, Microsoft made the S controller the universal controller. Had nothing to do with wasting time and resources, and everything to do with regional ergonomics.

That said, if the Xbox controller used shoulder buttons instead of triggers, had two more, made the black and white buttons more accessible, and used a rubberish material for the handgrips, maybe slope them a little, it'd be perfect. As it is, it's the closest to perfect we have.

Xbox2's controller will be somewhat like that.

While remaining the same shape a little, they are keeping the triggers, adding a shoulder button on each side and removing the black/white buttons. The rubber grip you can achieve yourself by using Plasti-cote.

The Gamecubes Wavebird is awesome! Next probably would be a Duel Shock PS2 controller :p

I cant stand any Xbox controller, they never have felt comfortable to hold...

Supposedly, anyway. We don't really know what the final controllers will be like. I'm hoping the white and black buttons aren't dropped, but merely relocated to be higher up, and thus easier for the thumb to access.

I really wish Microsoft would replace the triggers with buttons, though.

Going back in time a little here; I used to love the MegaDrive (Genesis) 6 button controller, which came out to help support games like SF2 and the like. Although bland to look at the feel and responsiveness of the buttons was second to none.

Still got it here somewhere, I had always fancied trying to get it to work for a PC but alas I don't think it will :(

Edit: I had tiny hands at the time, don't think it fits quite as smoothly into my manly shovel hands.

Mine is definatly the Logitech wireless XBOX controller. I love that thing :D
I'd have to agree. I like it more than the XBOX S controllers.

I personally wish the PS2 had triggers so I could play GT3 and actually vary my speed instead of full power, no power, full brakes, and not have to constantly tap the buttons.

Agreed. Best controller I've ever used. When it comes to wireless controllers, the Wavebird can't touch it. Though, I can appreciate how closely the Wavebird emulates the regular GC controller. I'm pretty fond of my Driving Force Pro wheel, as well.

When using a controller, I like to use the right stick. Up for gas, down for brake. It has the disadvantage of being unable to accelerate and brake at the same time, but it's more than offset by the extra control it gives you.

Mouse and Keyboard on my computer. I hate console contorllers (thats why I've never bought a console)

Japanese Saturn controller....best D-Pad feel on the face of the earth, and has 6 buttons in the street fighter configuration (playing SF on a playstation controller makes me want to commit suicide)
