Oh yeah, definitely going for my first Cyberpunk playthrough with this beast. “The way it was meant to be played”.Try Cyberpunk and report back. My jaw did drop when I tried it.
Too bad your 5090 isn't the FE. Would have liked to see fe vs fe real world comparisonsJoined the 5090 club! Been super busy this weekend and have no time to get into the weeds but here are my first two observations. FPS counter at latest quicksave, going from 4090 FE (stock) to 5090 Astral OC (stock):
Stalker 2 (4k,DLSS Quality, Frame Gen Auto, all settings Epic): 4090 @ 104 FPS - 5090 @ 136 FPS (30.7692% increase)
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 (4k, DLSS Quality): 4090 @ 99 FPS - 5090 @ 124 FPS (25.2525% increase)
Anecdotal, unscientific, quick and dirty. Look forward to more testing!

Just subtract around 5% of performance.Too bad your 5090 isn't the FE. Would have liked to see fe vs fe real world comparisons
One of the main reasons I didn't even try to get a FE this time around was because of the coil whine and the heat dissipation. Nvidia made it out to be a good thing that it was smaller than the 4090 FE (which I had previously), but it has proven not to be such a good thing now it seems. But it’s loud and has some sort of coil whine.
I think it's still the best 5090 you can get for all the factors (size, price) - but I've been proven wrong RE: AIB cards just being big to be big - that's for sure. The marvel of NVIDIA engineering is there with the FE but they obviously had to cut some corners and unfortunately they did so with the power delivery. I think they just went a bit too far to please the "professional" audience. One of the main reasons I didn't even try to get a FE this time around was because of the coil whine and the heat dissipation. I agree with the power delivery, and it is priced nicely as well. The trade off is still not attractive to me, but the look will and size has drawn people to the card I'm sure.I think it's still the best 5090 you can get for all the factors (size, price) - but I've been proven wrong RE: AIB cards just being big to be big - that's for sure. Yeah almost 3GHz for average and +2500Mhz for mem but it’s def worth saving the $$$ for FE. Gaming Trio 5090My FE can get 2800MHz core with ease, and +2000MHz on memory for some of the best gaming I have yet experienced.
Is anyone getting much higher clocks on any version?
My stock performance is 2850-2950. I can run 3030-3050 all day. I currently run an undervolt curve which keeps card between 2850-2900 @ 970 mV. I save about 100 watts give or take and keep the card under 70 C more or less.My FE can get 2800MHz core with ease, and +2000MHz on memory for some of the best gaming I have yet experienced.

are all the fans exhaust?Got my case in today. I found out I need to re-order the correct matching case fans... Also looks like I'll need to get some custom PSU cables, my CPU power cable is a bit short.

You know what I wasnt paying attention and just checked. Guess I have to flip them around.are all the fans exhaust?
Wow maybe I need to try higher mem speed. My core clock is 100mhz higher than yours but your mem is 175mhz higher than mine but your score is about 800 higher. Was feeling a bit left out as I got dropped from 46 in HOF to like 78. So you know what I did. Tweaked further. Back at 65.

I am sure I can do more but it's Dubai and card doesn't stay cool enough.
Rip, sorry you overpaid.Picked this up at a backwoods garage sale for $10. I tried to negotiate down to $7 but the old lady said no because it's water cooled.

Stable without the undervolt. With undervolt I can run 3000-3090 it seems (these are numbers showing up in Steel Nomad). So is 3030-3050 stable without the undervolt or do you need the undervolt to accomplish that?

Thats the case I got for my 4090. Replaced those TT fans with some nice Arctic Freeze P14's MAX.....Best decision ever and they keep the system very cool.Got my case in today. Performance wise doesnt look like it matters. I cant switch the orientation because of the case anyways. If it dies early as long as it doesn't leak I am ok replacing it every few years especially since Thermalright AIOs are pretty cheap. No issues with your pump being at the top of the loop?
I got this case because the Vanguard was just a hair too long for my Xtia Xproto-L and I figure cards will continue to get bigger and longer. I originally bought a O11 Mini Air but couldn't find any vertical GPU brackets in white so I gave up on that one. The 2 TT fans at the top were installed from the factory in the wrong orientation and they didn't screw in the 2 thumb screws for the middle fan braket at all so it was dangling when I took out the case. I did want to replace the fans at the top but honestly the CPU and GPU never hit above 60c so I'm just going to leave it and add 2 140mm fans at the back. Otherwise so far I like the case, its pretty flexible.Thats the case I got for my 4090. Grats on the purchase!
Yeah, I love the fact that it can actually fit a 420mm rad in it with a huge ass video card.Performance wise doesnt look like it matters. I cant switch the orientation because of the case anyways. At FG2X the diff was from 120 fps in bench to 125 fps in bench. However, note that my card @ stock runs a high clock. It stays at almost 600 watts all the time @ stock. Your FE would probably be doing 115-117 fps to my knowledge with maxed out everything DLSS quality and FG.Hey if you are bored, can you test base frame rates in Cyberpunk, no DLSS, no frame gen, full path tracing on, ray reconstruction on, 4K, ect, with and without your maximum stable overclock and report? I’m curious how many base frames you are picking up. I’m guessing base frames = lower latency with frame gen.
Not sure his pump is actually at the top of the loop if it is in the cold plate and not in the rad. I just checked this again and apparently Steve’s lengthy video does not necessarily rule out this kind of tubes on top config. I think the pump at the top of the loop scenario is more rare than people think. JZ did a video on this.

Woah what is going on there? Is that a 5090 in the front of the case with a cable snaking around the back connecting it up to the board? Never seen anything like it! What case is that and who makes the extender/riser.
I can’t keep up with you guys.![]()
I'm still kinda pissed at them. They used to make these absolutely lovely all aluminum cases. Full tower, 10+ 5.25" bays, hardly weighs anything, and yet sturdy. I have one... it's nearly 20 years old. Now they're all steel bricks with tempered glass like everyone else. Pretty much generic. I just want them to make a lightweight aluminum case series. Just aluminum boxes that can take up to an EATX board depending which size you go for and otherwise designed for airflow and minimal weight. That is a crazy amount of case for the money. Lian Li is pretty hard to top these days. They seem to make the best use of available space and their RGB is very tasteful.
I recognize the riser now but didn’t realize you could do such a long run of cabling with a riser like that.
MORE. Clock that sucker.15,104 on Steel Nomad

+425 core
+2000 memory (max)
14900k holding my score back for sure but I'm satisfied. I'm gaming at 4k 144Hz so I doubt I'll see much benefit switching platforms. Should probably have checked for a new Afterburner to see if I can get that mem clock slider higher. Test crashed at +500 on the core.
Yes, I am not using more than FG2X. Play Cyberpunk and hold on to your panties. Smooth af.But I'm having too much fun gaming!Won't make the top 100 list anyway, my 14900k is pretty much at her limit. Need one of those 6.2 KS chips to drop in, or a shiny new X3D. I'm probably going to wait for the next gen CPUs to drop (later this year?). Don't get me wrong I like upgrading my hardware but I just had that dope hit a few days ago.
I'm maxing my TV out anyway with this monster of a GPU. I just played some Stalker 2 and switched from DLSS Quality to DLAA. With my overclock and 3X Frame Gen, I am maxing out the 65" QD-OLED and it's fucking GORGEOUS. I am high on video crack right now. Love, love, love this Astral! And I didn't pay 5 grand to a scalper so I still have some self respect!
edit: Stepped back down to base framegen, lost a few frames but still close to 144. I'll take it. 3X and 4X aren't quite there yet, I notice the occasional hitch and added latency. If they can dial it in, wow. 4k 144Hz won't need more GPU grunt for a long while. Bring on the 240Hz OLED TVs!
If you guys had to choose between a pny 5090 Oc or a msi gaming trio 5090, which one would you keep and why?
MSI Gaming Erek has zero problem with his card. PNY read has fan issues on some cardsIf you guys had to choose between a pny 5090 Oc or a msi gaming trio 5090, which one would you keep and why?
What's funny is the more expensive ARGB Epyx is 500$ more than the OC and the OC clocks higher boost than the ARGB Epyx. That's a huge price increase for RGB or I'm missing something.the pny is supposedly faster, according to TPU.
I have heard the MSI is getting good reviews and haven't seen much complaints about this card. The price difference between the two is 600$ so it's not a small amount.MSI Gaming Erek has zero problem with his card. PNY read has fan issues on some cards
I'd stick with whichever is cheaper. The performance difference is tiny. What's funny is the more expensive ARGB Epyx is 500$ more than the OC and the OC clocks higher boost than the ARGB Epyx. That's a huge price increase for RGB or I'm missing something.

Yeah if the price difference was 100$ or something close to that, this decision would be more difficult. Thanks for the input.I'd stick with whichever is cheaper. The performance difference is tiny.
