I'm interested in your 5090 FE noise experience. I have a Gigabyte 4090 as well and the cooler is so large on the card that even when I overclock it, I never hear it. There is no difference in idle vs load sound. It's kind of spoiled me in that regard - there's no way I want to return to anything audible. And I have a hard time believing a cooler that's thinner while absorbing more power can do it.
If you want silence, Founders is not that card.

Whoa..

TL;DR: GALAX's new GeForce RTX 5090D HOF OC Lab XOC Limited Edition graphics card, featuring dual 12-2x6 power connectors, has set a 3DMark Speed Way world record with a 3.27GHz GB202 GPU. Designed by the GALAX OC team, it remains unreleased to the public, highlighting GALAX's commitment to the overclocking community.

The Gigabyte 4090 would most likely destroy the 5090 FE in terms of noise. The 5090 FE is significantly louder and supposedly has more coil whine than even the 4090 FE. According to reviews, the Gigabyte 4090 OC was quieter and cooler than the 4090 FE when using the silent bios.

There she is. Got the notification email and decided to purchase one. Fun card so far. Gonna do encoding this weekend.

Just pulled the 5090 for a PowerColor Red Devil 9070 XT LE - no 12VHPWR issues with a Corsair AX1000 and a Corsair official 12VHPWR cable (same one I’ve used for 4090s before it).

Pumped well over 600W multiple times with benches, etc.

Nice! I got the E-Mail too, bought one and then thought better of it and cancelled the order. I can't in good faith buy one of these things. Prices have just gotten so bad and the worst part is Nvidia knows we will pay it. I think Nvidia will probably keep the pricing increasing until we hit $5999 for the base model, that seems to be the cap on eBay.
  • $999 for the original Titan
  • $1299 for the RTX 2080Ti
  • $1499 for the RTX 3090
  • $1599 for the RTX 4090
  • $1999 for the RTX 5090

Trying this here too?

Yea I'd like to see more people stand up, best thing we can do this generation to try to put an end to the insanity. I'd encourage anyone else to post their cancellations too or stories of not clicking the Add to Cart button. If we all work together it'll get better. Otherwise in a few generations it will get worse.

The 5090 came with a connector that hooks up to 4PCIE cord that you plug into your power supply. Thankfully, the 600 W cord on my 3.0ATX power supply can be used with a 5090 as well I’m addition to my old 4090.

295x2/290x in Trifire ($1500)
Nvidia Titan $2000 in SLI
AMD Vega 16 VPro in Crossfire ($2000)
Nvidia Titan RTX ($2500 still have the card in my other system)
Nvidia 4090 ($1899)
Nvidia 5090 ($1999)

I’ll be able to recover most of the cost for
The 4090 sale since these cards are still in demand. I just have a small window now.

All hooked up to either a Dell 32”4k monitor or my correct 4k monitor in my sig.

EDIT: Sold the 4090 for $2400 on ebay. After charges I made $150 after Ebay charges.

like I said I used the Corsair official 12VHPWR cable - no need for the adapter.

Hi guys. Question. Will Seasonic FOCUS GX-1000 v4 ATX 3.1 PCIe 5.1 Black Gold 1000W , be ok with 5080? I mean will cable not burn? I read many about burning cables or slots in rtx 5xxx.

https://seasonic.com/pl/focus-gx-atx-3/
Burning cables has nothing to do with the wattage being used, and everything to do with crappy manufacturing. But yes, 1000w is enough for that card. Your GPU becoming a melting, fiery pit of death is up to the universe.

Wow, much respect to you for taking a stand against rising prices. You could have easily made close to $1000 even if you don't want something that expensive. But I guess reselling the 5090 would further raise prices and go against your principles lol.

Would you recommend to upgrade from RTX 4090 to 5090?
8k resolution, playing only flight / racing simulators.
Thank you

If you have the money and aren't happy with your current performance an upgrade to 5090 would improve your gaming. Only you can decide if you get an acceptable performance increase.

Yes for flight sim, I have a buddy who only plays MSFS and multi frame gen is worth it for that specific application. Im not sure about racing sim though.

So I got a MSI 5090 vanguard a few days ago and just got enough time to install and test it. It scores consistently 14050~ vs 14400 on my FE. Not sure what exactly is going on. All ROPs are supposedly there. Gaming vs Silent mode doesn't matter scores are the exact same.

Use nvidia overlay to show how much wattage it is drawing. It should be close to 600 watts. If not you have a problem.

Clean reinstall drivers. Reseat GPU and check power connectors.

I had an issue where GPU was only drawing 150 watts, but a system restart fixed it.

Just tried it 570w+ during steel nomad. Now my scores are dropping into the 1399x range.

What does all ROPs are supposedly there mean? You see them in GPU-Z?

Check the power mode stuff in NVIDIA Control Panel. I didn't have to mess with any of it.

Get Afterburner and manually put the power slider up so you can hit 600W+, use HWiNFO to monitor wattage while you bench/game (since stuttering that it can cause isn't really a concern).

575w is the stock power limit for my Vanguard. I haven't had to mess with custom curves in a long time. Had to up the power limit and OC the card with a curve. Right now I'm +450 core, +1500 mem and Im getting about 14900~. Its hitting 2960-3015 MHz core clock right now. Im going to run a long stress test to see if it holds.

Yeah I have a Gaming Trio they are similar cards. 575W, as well. 15,080 OC'd - https://www.3dmark.com/sn/4478260 - I always max power limit when benching.

Had a 5090 TUF OC and that I did not tweak as much - 14,593 same rig (+303MHz core) - https://www.3dmark.com/sn/4276322. 600W default card. You're in the ballpark.

My scores before are closer to the cards missing ROPs mathematically. 4-500 points lower than my FE in the same system battles me since I’ve seen people score 15k stock on a vanguard no oc and 15.5-16k with oc.

Lots of silicon lottery winners versus losers. 15500 is very good for a 9800X3D system.

That’s true. At least the vanguard is silent vs my fe.
Both are sick cards! Before they launched I was dead set on an FE (and I still want one) but I now see the value of an AIB model. Granted...$700 more is tough to swallow, lol.

For sure. I wanted to maintain a super small SFF build so I wanted the FE. But it’s loud and has some sort of coil whine. Decided I would build a brand new system and lucked into the vanguard so took it.

Insane performance in DCS World, not VR.

Indiana Jones performance is not as good as Cyberpunk from a mouse feel standpoint. The frame counters with FG look good, but the feel is only passable. It could be the engine. The lighting effects are incredible, but other visual elements fall short. The game itself is an 7-8/10 so far.

We need Doom: Dark Ages! 🕰️
The Reflex implementation seems borked in Indie, I have no clue why DF didn't notice or pick on it. It feels like v-sync lag and I've noticed it's not auto capping the frames low enough with g-sync+v-sync so I suppose that's why.

It's also possible the base game is just laggy though, some games simply don't have a very clean code. CP77 has one of the cleanest code out there so input lag is top tier.

IIRC, the new Indiana Jones doesn't have Reflex support. That was the reason why the game, when it came out, ran like garbage for the folks that had reflex turned on in the NVCP or Nvidia app while running frame generation. I've not heard if that was ever addressed beyond force turning it off.
