Borderlands 4

Yeah, Steam says my playtime on 3 was just over an hour. Haven't touched it since. The weapons just all feel bad to use, like nothing has any weight or impact. I played the hell out of 2, so whatever they did there they need to figure it out and bring that back.
I really enjoyed Tiny Tina so I'm hoping they carry a lot of those mechanics over to 4.

Also, they can fuck off with non-cosmetic, non-expansion content being locked behind a paywall.
I really hope they find that they strained too hard and it flops, but i am sure they will blame something else. Yea i saw there is a couple vault hunters behind the more expensive edition. Rather that show up as paid dlc later. Even being the same difference in price, is a better appearance to me.

Executive Producer Chris Brock: Borderlands 4 is more of an evolution for the franchise than its predecessor was when it launched in 2019

"The time between Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3 was about seven years. We had been gone for a while. We wanted to make sure that when we came back it was familiar. When people say it feels like more Borderlands, yeah, that was the goal. We wanted to make more Borderlands. We wanted to evolve, but we didn't want to change the formula so much that it didn't feel familiar

"But going from Borderlands 3 to Borderlands 4, one of the things we wanted to focus on was the traversal abilities and exploration. And that has led to the series evolving, I would say, more between 3 and 4 than it did between 2 and 3, for sure"

Senior Writer Taylor Clark also explained why Borderlands 4 will feature a different brand of humor than previous installments...

It's put together differently than previous games where games in the past based around loot you have. Live events triggers with the air ships. Map design I'm not sold on but it's not on rails and cramped up anyway but you can travel with your vehicles instead of doing Infantry around a empty map. Tiny Tina Wonderlands was silly but had some cool stuff going on but nothing like this.

Overall I just can't see how we go wrong here. I liked 3 but I didn't love it like I did 2 and especially 1.

My ranking best to least best:
3 for the stories, I play through it again including the DLC's every few months. Love fl4k.
1
Pre-Sequel for the cool platforming.
2
Tiny Tina, would have been higher if it had an end game.

Didn't play any of the other non-fps spin-offs. Gonna play the snot out of this one.

Discounts have been shown to greatly increase sales and revenue on Steam despite the lower price. If BL4 won't go on sale for 5 years then sales will crater after release hype. And then Randy will use that as an excuse again to screw over his employees.

Randy is just trying to get more people to buy the game at launch...Borderlands 3 came out in March 2020 and is currently 95% off during the Steam Summer Sale...of course B4 won't hit that mark for several years but it'll definitely hit that point within 5 years

the problem is gamers are a bit delusional and see B3 at $2.99 at want B4 to be that price 3 months after launch

Guess I'll be looking for a deal on CDKeys or GMG like I have in the past. I can't remember the last time I actually paid full-price for a PC game!

I think he is saying "sales like this" as in, 90% off sales. It can be played offline but a big draw is multiplayer/co-op, and that means player count. Lower prices mean more people will buy it = higher player count = longer term sales and especially DLC sales. A lot of times it comes down to convincing two friends to purchase the game. Even if you could afford it, if your friends don't want to spend full price it may prevent your sale if you don't want to play it alone. I'm sure we'll see sales, but it will take a while to see massive discounts. Kind of true with most games now, the days of being $5 12 or even 18 months post release are long gone. But you'll probably see 50% off 18 or so months post release excluding DLC.

I also believe GTA6 will be no more than $80 for this reason. They know it will sell but they also want to keep numbers high because the online is where most of the money will be made.

Yep. But in addition I feel the industry has had talks among themselves to make sure that they are all going to raise game prices and reduce discounts to stop the bleeding the game industry has experienced the last years. Price fixing is of course theoretically illegal, but I think it is more than suspicious that so many companies are coming forward to state the 80 dollars should be the new price for games going forward, and now that there is no use waiting for sales either.

I have zero hype for this game after BL3.

I'm thinking fatigue may be setting in. After 5 or so games I think the general concept may be getting stale. BL3 played better than BL2 without a doubt, much smoother movement, less getting stuck on crap but I enjoyed the story more in BL2.

I loved BL2 and logged over 500 hours co-op'ing with the kids. Played both the next two releases fully through and to the conclusion. For some reason, I just really don't find myself interested in this release....

We’ll see. I’ve always found the formula fun, at least this one releases on Steam day one. I just hope it’s better than 3.

I feel like the gore is putting it closer to BL1 in spirit, hopefully the story s good. Huge bonus to see plenty of options, the claptrap slider is hilarious.

Gearbox is just showing off their Animations. Im wondering if the Fetch quests will be interesting enough to put a to different spin on the game. The specials moves seem spammy but it's your option to use them whenever.
