They released a big, free, expansion to BL2 before releasing BL3, was kind of hoping they would do the same for BL4 to drum up interest. But I guess not. :(
 
I was looking at the deluxe/ultimate bundles, and it seems like ult gets you the equivalent of a season pass, and deluxe gets part of it. Have any of you seen a detailed breakdown of the packages?

Looks like the super expensive one includes 2 additional playable characters, new maps, and new missions. In some ways I think it's cool that they're actually providing value...but at 2X the price of the original game that's wack as hell. I'm going with the "bare bones" one, which is still $70.

Wait 2 additional playable characters? I'm guessing with their own skill tree and everything? That to me is simply putting what should be base game content behind a paywall, which is trash.

When Pitchford was talking about $80 games and whatnot a few months ago, this is where they decided to go instead. Instead of charging $80, they just gated a bunch of core content and are charging $130 instead.

It's the same strategy the industry used to get gamers "comfortable" with $60 games in the mid-00s.

Yeah screw that. I enjoy Borderlands games but not enough to justify that bs.

It doesn't generally take too long for these titles go on a significant sale, so I'll be waiting for one, but hopefully they don't hit their sales targets and respond accordingly.
 
I'll probably still buy the base game ASAP. At least unless the two DLC characters and levels get stellar reviews or they match my particular tastes or something. If they are, I'll probably go with a gray market key site. I've never been the kind of person who stuck with games long enough for multiple seasons and DLC packs and whatnot. I tend to blow through something over the course of a month and I might go back in a year or two if the game was particularly good. If a game truly deserves lots of DLC and seasonal content, there will probably be a cheaper "GOTY version" or some such bundle in a few years.

That isn't a bad freebie to get if you were planning on getting a 50-series card anyway. Although it's the "cheap" version of the game where they're paywalling core content.

Starting with BL2 the games always had a lot of expensive DLC. I assume the paid DLCs will be similar to the previous games. I was hoping for BF6 to be included for free though.
 
You guys posting late people really seem to like Borderlands 2 more for some reason. Think its because it's a tighter game and the opening area with claptrap in the snow made an impact. I think people are turned off by the specials.
