I caved and bought BF4 last night. Game runs pretty smooth with DLSS and FrameGen X4, with graphics setting one notch below Bad Ass or whatever that's called.

How do I join a multiplayer game with real players? And also I want better weapons LOL

better weapons just come with playing and/or grinding. they always start out awful.

This happened to me once, hasn’t happened again.
 
I never want to fight that guy in the Vault of Inceptus again I'm done for a while.
I thought I had him good but I just removed his Armor then got his Health down to 1/3 got downed like crazy. At least I know how to fight him after a few attempts I should move the slider to easy.

I used a few keys hit level 20 got a Class Mod right off the Bat then Beat Inceptus on the 1st try I hardly even got downed because my Shield was so good. I got that good Sub Machine Gun Deep State Brit Bees but it's only level 20.
 
When you get up to level 30's in the game all the enemies are no joke, I have a very good shield but several hits and it's spent.
 
What FrameGen are you running with DLSS? I had X4 on, but that's prob too much of a performance hit? Should I do X3 or X2?
 
I am starting to do some sides and it seems you miss a lot of context and story if you don’t do them. Some are a bit crappy but be sure to do sides provided by main characters in every region. Also they give good loot and XP compared to random sides.

I had to goto the new area on the Left and Right sides of the Map after killing one of the bosses. I went to the Right Side couldn't enter the Arena so I went to the left side of the Map.
Where it's all Orange and Desert Land. Moxxis Bar is up there just looked it up but haven't found it yet.

The side missions are better than the story missions, imo. The one with the rocket especially.

I've done some of the side missions, one was just outright annoying with pulling levers and smashing a button numerous times. Some sites recommend doing the main missions first and side quests later to get scaled to level gear and maximize xp, so that's the route I've been following.

Best Side Quest is returning the Plant Sample. Looking for Vault pieces is fun too no big dumb shooting. If they resolved the game around more quests and less shooting think I would like the game more...

I get 120-130 fps average with DLSS quality and 2x FG and it runs great, it pretty much depends on what works for you.

Thank you. I'm a little confused how frame generation works. I have a 5080, 0. It does times give a butter quality image with lower performance or does times four give better quality image and lower performance?

Obviously I have DLSS enabled.

Chat GPT can explain it better than I can so hopefully it helps. I don't believe frame generation has anything to do with quality as much as getting higher frame rates.

Frame Generation (FG) is a graphics technique where your GPU creates (“interpolates”) extra frames between the real rendered ones to boost frame rate, FG 2x will give you a boost in frames while still preserving the overall quality of the picture, 3x and 4x will provide a even higher frame rate but may come at the cost of visual artifacts.


Here’s the breakdown of 2×, 3×, and 4× FG multipliers:



🔹 2× Frame Generation​


  • For every 1 real frame the game renders, the GPU generates 1 extra frame.
  • Example: Game renders 60 FPS → FG inserts 60 more → Output = 120 FPS.
  • Latency increase is moderate but usually manageable.


🔹 3× Frame Generation​


  • For every 1 real frame, the GPU generates 2 extra frames.
  • Example: Game renders 60 FPS → FG inserts 120 more → Output = 180 FPS.
  • Higher smoothness, but also more chance of artifacting, ghosting, or latency since most frames are “fake.”


🔹 4× Frame Generation​


  • For every 1 real frame, the GPU generates 3 extra frames.
  • Example: Game renders 60 FPS → FG inserts 180 more → Output = 240 FPS.
  • Very smooth, but most frames are interpolated.
  • Works best when you want ultra-high refresh rates (like on a 240–360Hz monitor) but don’t mind some slight visual artifacts or added input delay.


⚖️ Trade-offs​


  • Higher multipliers (3×, 4×): More smoothness, but less “real” responsiveness and more chance of artifacts.
  • Lower multipliers (2×): Better balance between smoothness and responsiveness.
  • Input latency mitigation: Nvidia Reflex and AMD Anti-Lag help offset latency from FG.


👉 In practice:


  • 2× FG feels natural and is most common.
  • 3×/4× FG are for chasing ultra-high FPS on high-refresh monitors, but only really shine if latency is well managed.

I made it to level 40 and finished the main missions and I see why they recommend saving the side missions for last. After the main mission is finished your specializations start to further your main characters build and your given the ability to play ultimate vault hunter, you have access to Maurice's black market vending machine which has legendary stuff. I was getting my ass kicked on ultimate vault hunter mode though and put it back to normal for now, it's no joke, I think for some you may choose to play normal mode instead for a while or play with a friend.
 
I need to get back to this. Not finding much time even though I want to play it.

I played this game for about 12 hours over two days last week my knee swelled up. I think its the constant fictional flashes that took me out. I think when sitting in my Chair blood gets pooled up. I'm doing better today but might hit the clinic on Monday if I still can't walk good.

Same thing happened to me in 2022 but with Elden Ring. Games with alot of flashing are a big No for me. My Amazon knee ice pack is working really good.
