Oh, yeah, I remember looking at HeXuS review of the 256mb x800GT (it's only 8 pipelines) AND IT HIT 4600-something 3DMark05 score. That's very impressive for a 8 piped card...
mmm y?[RIP]Zeus said:Don't forget 3dmark is also very biased towards ati.
Nirad9er said:Yea, I found that kinda weird or shocking. 128 bit memory and such a huge clock on the memory 1400mhz.
makes it seem like ATI will be doing 16 pipelines with massive clock speeds. I dont want my video card burning up at stock speeds. YIKES
It didn't "HIT 4600-something" in 3DMark05, it got 3980: http://www.hexus.net/content/reviews/review.php?dXJsX3Jldmlld19JRD0xNDU2JnVybF9wYWdlPTY=Mr. Stryker said:Oh, yeah, I remember looking at HeXuS review of the 256mb x800GT (it's only 8 pipelines) AND IT HIT 4600-something 3DMark05 score. We've seen this type of "because we can" mismatched memory configurations before, where MFGR's will do anything to sell more units, reguardless if it improves performance or not. (Example 1: 256MB FX 5200. Example 2a & b: 512MB X800XL and 6800 Ultra).Brent_Justice said:1.4GHz memory on a 128-bit bus for midrange?

A 6600GT with 128-bit memory gets 3661 on the same graph, so 300 points for almost double the memory bandwidth and more vertex shaders isn't very impressive. I'm not knocking the x800 GT, but it's not exactly a revolutionary product like the x800 XL PCI-E was at the time. Even the NV40-based 6800nu is about the same price now.

ATI is loosing money left and right.
The difference about ATI and Nvidia is simple. Even when Nvidia was down, she still had her fan boys, and she was still producing SOMETHING for the consumer to buy. ATI hasn't produced any new top tier cards. They keep trying to wrestle the middle ground card spot away from Nvidia and they're failing miserably.

It looks like a made up number. Do you happen to have a link to that 4650 score in the ORB? There are no 4650 scores in the ORB for a x800 GT in either the x800 or x800 series sections. I searched both.Mr. Stryker said:Yea...? Am I missing something? It still says 4650 for 05 and 8800 for 03.![]()

Word. I could barely find 2 x800 GT reviews that used 3DMark05 as I mentioned above.SgtSweatySac said:People still pay attention to 3dmark?
There's a reason any new HardOCP reviews don't bother with it....
