I've got the CE version through Steam but I bought it when I got hyped up on the game from a friend and youtube vids of aerial combat. After playing it myself I think it'll be another bland MMO so blah. I'll be rolling somewhere with friends but likely won't play much.

Same here. have you noticed during beta that Israphel would be the only server going "down". It happened multiple times during beta open and closed. Oh well. Cya out there.

Even tho I Pre-Ordered I' am going to have to skip, played the open beta and very bland for me. The only thing I really liked were the detail in armor and weapons but overall the game was very bland.

The game seemed a little bit simplistic with combos and such... but I only played scout. I tried out mage for 3 levels and was sick of the "GCD." I love the graphics of the game and if I could play casually (seems like I can) then that would be great. I played WOW hardcore and would not like to get sucked into that again since I am in grad school now. I tried Warhammer and was sick of leveling by the time I hit 15 or so. Hopefully Aion will be a good balance between the two.
 
BTW, is there any reason why you are all rolling on Ispharael? Maybe there's something I don't know.

I believe you just need to have pre-ordered to be eligible for the pre-pre-release.

Guilds going Elyos but we changed we are not going to Azphel. Can't say where we are going till later.
 
overall it is bland, it is very easy too. i had all my actions bound to one macro, you click a target you run to the correct range and attack.

i am going to give it a shot because i really do enjoy pvp. i hope pvp will be better then WAR in T4.

it is also quite a bit different. things like for the assassin class. if they move their damage output is -70% but their evasion increases 300. for the warrior classes when you back up and and enemy in the front you chance to hit drops but your parry increases 500.

also position plays very little role in most thing, if you turn on attack and the enemy runs away you follow him and stay in melee range. if they try to jump around and run though you, your character just keeps with them and they run around like a fool and you keep attacking with no effort.

it is just so different i am willing to give it a try.
 
I'm mostly interested in trying it because it's different too... it seems more "fun." A lot of player-friendly options like auto-run/attack and in-game databases for quests and NPC locations. It's more of a game and less research (like wow+wowhead/allakazham/thottbot).
 
GameGuard was buggy for me prior to the patch 1.5.0. something.

Past that I had no issues with it. But they were VERY smart to drop it for the launch. God only knows how much that thing would complicate support issues at the launch. Get to the game, work that out as we progress through it.

I'll be on the server that starts with a V (Its name escaping me now).

Character: Omatre, Templar. I'm probably gonna roll a cleric also after the hit to 50 takes place. There's I think 10-15 coming from WoW with me, some guild, some just peeps I know. Going Asmo

All in all, I'm anxious. I haven't wanted to play a game so badly that it gave me purpose to building a new PC. This one is gonna be solid, so much so that my WoW account expires on the 24th, and I'm already locked up for 4 months for this one. So I'm in for the long haul.
 
Has the "unofficial" Role Play server been decided yet ?
 
Got 2 friends that were on closed beta and they cried for me to join up on open beta phase. I tried it and found the game to look amazing and it was fun in a simplistic manner but it was just too simple. I didnt like some of the options and I dont really like being dragged thru an MMO. Seems the zones just go in a very linear fashion. I would rather have an open ended MMO, not being hand held thru the game.
 
I will be rolling on Vaizel as the character Nomec on the Elyos side. Feel free to look me up! I am joining a legion with a few members of my old WAR guild on there so it should be a good time.

Loved open beta, wife and i had a great time.. Nice fresh new experience, beautiful game. Excited for launch.

It's been split between Lumiel and Zikel. I'm going to Lumiel since Zikel appears to be taken over by epeen guilds. Lumiel's community seems to be more mature for the moment.

Not sure which side I want to play though. I'm going to be searching for some legions but I'm definitely playing on the Lumiel server.

That's pretty silly to have both RP servers on the East cost. Why not split them up one East and one West?:rolleyes:

Man I'm really tempted to play this game, but honestly I have a hard time managing my time when it comes to MMO's. I find that my weekend is spent playing the mmo, and rarely doing anything else. SOOOO I'll stick to my 1-2 hour TF2 gaming sessions.
 
By the way for those who do not know yet... ALL servers are physically located on the east coast. The time zones they are using refers to when the "primetime" will take place on the server. From a post from Ayase, primetime is to be considered 4pm to 12am.

So primetime on a West server starts at 4pm PST and an East server it starts at 4pm EST.

It's all silly and trivial as to why this happened but from what I've read, Aionsource.com ran a poll for the unofficial server. Lumiel won the poll but people from Warhammer's RP server (Phoenix Throne) all picked Zikel since they think/thought Lumiel won't have much going for PVP. Anyway overtime, more people started acting like a bunch of asshats on the Zikel boards so more people went back to Lumiel.

Like I said, it's all pretty dumb and trivial but if the boards on AionSource are anything to go on, Lumiel seems to have the more mature community for the time being.
 
For the record, I don't think the people that post on the Aionsource forums are really all that big of a piece of what the total population will be. They make think they are really important, but they aren't.
 
My problems with GameGuard were that it was keeping my Razer DeathAdder drivers from allowing me to use my thumb buttons. It was also screwing up my friends G15 keyboard, killing his function keys and the LCD display. (and he has a DeathAdder as well). We were both annoyed enough by this and the fact that GameGuard would randomly spaz-out when alt-tabbing that we weren't going to get the game.

It's good that they got rid of it because I had originally decided not to buy the game solely because of GameGuard.

they did NOT get rid of it..they just DISABLED it for launch...do not be misled

they have every intention of using it once the 'problems' are 'fixed'

they just couldn't do it before launch.

They couldn't do it because they'd be missing out on a lot of sweet, sweet cash from people that were bypassing on the game because of GG.

I could be wrong on that though. :D
