Aion Release

3 hours waiting time on all servers with only pre-order people playing. I hope this is a joke.

Yea, over 4 hours waiting on Lumiel. It's probably them just letting logins trickle in rather than opening a floodgate and crashing the servers totally.

We'll see...

Disconnected first time, waited in queue for 2 hours... then the game crashed when I was 200/2100... restarting queue now.

well I would rather wait than see ncsoft pull a warhammeronline and open 70 servers with turn into ghost towns a week after launch.

mythic never recovered from all the mistakes they made early in warhammer's life.

Pre-purchased collector's, but don't think I'll play it. Too worn out on MMO's for a couple of lifetimes.

Logged into Lumiel at about 3:17PM. Got DCed once about five-ten minutes in, but then reconnected with no wait. Levelled directly to 10 and ascended at about 10PM. (would have been faster but had to rotate tires, eat dinner, etc) Has proven to be much less pleasurable than the closed and open betas, mostly due to congested zones and poor quest designs causing bottlenecks at respawns and the like. At one particular quest on the Asmodian side (finding Rae) we had about 20-30 people camping these rabbit/frog things.

Overall, I'm sure most of this will be sorted out as populations in any given area thin out. Was still pretty fun and I'm looking forward to the 10-15 range tomorrow and getting some better armor/skills. If anyone sees me, feel free to send a tell or just yell hey. Asmodian - Lumiel - Name: Foxhound.

^^ Yeah it was pretty congested I got to level 12. The first 8ish levels were annoying then like half of triniel crashed and people couldn't get back in so i leveled easily to 12.

Rolled Warrior->Gladiator (Asmod) on the Vaizel server.

Pretty fun game. I cant wait to do some hunting in the Abyss.

Haha yes that was dumb. There was a massive tidal wave of people rolling through the game from midday, although if you could stand to hold off for an hour or two, the early starter zones were virtually deserted which made it a lot easier.

You'd have thought they would have figured out that the design of the quests which involve shared, and very limited instances of grain sacks etc is not ideal when there are a lot of people doing them at once. It's not like the Western release is the first time this game has gone live.

Best bet is to grind past the starter quest. Also if you concentrate on the mission quest you can blow past the rest of the pack. Made it to lvl 15 last night. Goal for tonight is to get to the Krall quest and grind elites to 20. Only thing non-mission quest are good for is cash. Expect the true launch weekend to bring the servers to there knees.

I'm heavily considering the game but after being burned on two copies of AOC and two copies of WAR, I am waiting a month or so this time to see what happens.

I have heard the end game is nothing but PVP and Crafting. This pleases me as I think raiding is the lamest crap ever :D but has the potential to suck. Again I will have to wait and see how it plays out.

There is still raids. From what I've read it's similiar to DAOC world bosses in the Abyss both factions can go after at the same time. Atleast thats my interpretation of what I've read. Highest I've got so far in betas has been 18-19ish so I could be wrong.

Simple solution: Change to a different channel. I found channels 1 and 2 to normally be packed full of people since that's where the game normally puts you. Change the channel to 6-10 and there's usually no one there, or at the very least, MUCH less people there. Just find a channel with no one there, do your quest, and if you want to change back to your original channel afterwards, you can.

On the server I was on everyone was doing that (including me), it was just a big crowd of people zoning in and out as fast as the timeout would allow. So much so that channel 1 ended up being the quietest because everyone was avoiding it, assuming it would be the busiest.

I didn't have too many problems last night myself. I got in as soon as the servers came up, remade one of my characters to a mage and got to level 14 (spiritmaster) before I logged for the night. I skipped most of the quests that required to gather items because it was a massive clusterfuck with all the people "camping" for quest items; grinding was faster for me.

I'm hoping to get my SM to 20 tonight and my chanter out of the starter area before lag redux 2.0 hits in a day or so. Not sure if I'll make it or not though.

Everyone playing early is hard core I guess.

still 3 hour waiting on my servers. Fuck that, not going to happen that i wait 3 hours for playing a game i paid for. That's stupid beyond belief.

Well I suppose you could just wait for things to even out, or go crying and swearing on the internet about it. Oh too late, looks like you make your choice!

There's always Failhammer , there's plenty of room on their servers

So despite the log in issues, how is the game itself? Some of my friends are playing it and they want me in on the american release.. I've only played on the asian servers, so how is the XP gain etc?

i'll keep an eye out on how it's doing for a few months first.

I refuse to get burned again ($100 col edition AoC )

Oh God, AoC is the reason I will never again jump on the bandwagon of any MMO before it's released and been out for a while. Biggest waste of money ever.

My buddy (who's been playing Aion since beta) says it's really awesome though. We shall see.

Ya, because complaining about a 3 hour wait is totally absurd. What was he thinking!?

Agreed same thing tonight. I just let it sit in queue while i went out and did other stuff. Apparently the main problem is people put their character on vendor mode and just let them sit all day. The game doesn't kick them off til like 25 hours or something stupid.

I've heard this game is group centric - which I really like - but are there any dungeons? I kind of miss that in newer MMOs. The whole dungeon crawl experience seems kind of lost these days.

AoC 1-20 trumps this game big time in my opinion. that's the thing with opinions... everyone has them including your friend.

Man my guild is going crazy. Most are 20+. Some have been online 20hrs+

I don't know whether to be happy or sad for them.

Are you guys serious? How easily satisfied are you? Why don't you just throw a couple bucks out of your window? You're totally content with the fact that you need to wait 3 hours to play a game? When i get back from work and want to play for an hour, then i don't want to sit and wait 3 hours first to get into the game....how retarded is that?!

Kids these days....

aren't these the same guys that did guild wars?

Yes...

I don't see what all the fuss is about wait times on the servers. EVERY MMO launch is like this, it's a way they populate the servers and not turn them into ghost towns like Warhammer.

it's been less than 2 days. For you guys having long queues, if you don't think it will let up then go to a different server with a lower population, not like you're going to lose a ton of progress. I know the server i've been on since the beginning of the head start has never had any queue line at all.

Also: have you seen the aion power wiki / armory thing. It's pretty awesome. Check out the 3d character feature here http://na.aiononline.com/livestatus/character-legion/search?charID=11333&serverID=5

Publisher, yes. Developer, no.

Anyway, I haven't had any problems with queuing or lag for the most part. I have a spiritmaster that's approaching 18 and I've recently started on my chanter that I'll play later.

I'm playing on Ariel. Played quite a bit yesterday and on Sunday. Managed to get my SM up to 18 and now have 94 cooking and 91 alchemy too. Crafting is a little boring but its kinda nice to just click craft all and walk away for a minute or two, or tab out and browse the forums.

I agree. That does suck. I was dealing with huge queues Sunday night but it seems to have smoothed out. 5min tops for wait time.

Hopefully yours does too.
