    I was having the exact problem, except it would happen in different games. I had the same mobo as you, and a 6800 at the time. Not sure if this info helps at all, but it seems like it has something to do with the nvidia drivers combined with that motherboard.

    I wanted a socket 939 board... Plus I wanted a system balanced out for gaming and image editting so I decided to get the 3700+. I think I made the right decision, but either way it'll definitely be a lot better than what I had before.
