Zune!!

Has the no video support rumor been shot down? It'll be a very big mistake not to include video playback.

yeah, i am not crazy about the name either

Definately a hit and miss, seriously, what where they thinking? It's ugly and doesn't have a single compelling feature.

whether you like Zune or not, it's great for DAP users. Increased competition-->Consumers win. The Zune project should push Apple and other companies to innovate.

Since none of the features have been officially confirmed, it's a little early to say Zune isn't compelling.

I will be VERY interested if it does the following.
1.) Offers a subscription based service.
2.) Lets me get songs via wifi / renews DRM licensing via wifi

Its MS, face it, it will almost undoubtably be limited to playing wmv for video. This kind of crap is the downfall of everything MS comes out with.

The video is in, don't know about the format though. EMI will put music videos on every Zune prior to delivery, others might follow.

Me and you must have a different opinion of compelling, I don't see DRM and subscription music as a must have feature. Actually I'd be more inclined to buy it if it didn't. I agree the wifi would be cool but form what the Zune looks like so far it'd need a lot more than that. If this thing doesn't support Xvid or DIVX it's pretty useless to me. MS should take it's head out of the sand and make something really open and forget DRM and proprietary formats, it's the one thing that could give them an edge over Apple.
