XP Raid install problem

Eh, im not sure how to explain this:

My computer went to reboot after "copying setup files" for Windows XP, after post it asks:
"Press any key to boot from CD...." and instead of continuing the WinXP install, it stops with a highlighted in red/orange "o"
:confused:

I have my BIOS setup to RAID 0 (also my first time using RAID).

Help?
 
Sounds like it is something to do with the BIOS configuration. Check your listing of boot devices again, to make sure their arranged in the right order. If everything looks fine, try resetting the CMOS, and then setting your BIOS options again.

Checked BIOS - RAID is on 1 for priority of disk, with my CDROM as Main priority.
Im going to run through Win setup again right now.

Ill repost with the result in a few minutes...
 
Same issue.
Formated - XP copy files - reboot - boot from CD, and i get this up/downarrows that are red, and then bottom of the screen the letter "o" highlighted in red/orange.

Is it possible, its because of RAID 0? Maybe i should scrap that plan and just use RAID1. :confused:
 
You could always try to disable RAID and install on a single disk. If that works, it will give more info as to what the issue is.

So, if i were to successfuly install XP on one disk with RAID disabled, then can i re-enable it to RAID 0, boot up?

update: I tried with RAID1, and same issue occured. Im installing XP on one of the disk for now (took off RAID) as suggested.

No, if it works, than you can rule out a hardware issue, a bad cable, etc. Then you know it's a problem with either the RAID controller itself or the BIOS's RAID settings. Given that, I'd probably just leave it alone and not use RAID. I'm not a big fan of RAID on a desktop, but that's for another thread.
 
Well, so far its not looking so good. Tried installing on one of the drives, same issue. Im going to try the other drive now. (the drives i was using for RAID).

If it works, ill just leave it as you said.. no RAID.

If that fails, which should be my better option?
A) try an XP install on my 250GB drive?
B) something else?
 
You could always try another drive and/or data cable. Have you run memtest lately as well? How about checking for any BIOS updates, or clearing the CMOS. I didn't see if you had tried that or not.

Havent tried those yet, but... i think i might have found my problem. Going to retry the drives... they were on 2nd Master/Slave.
I noticed my 250GB was set at (C: ) when in the partitioning section. I just swapped the IDE cables. If this works, im going to retry RAID.
 
Good/Bad :confused::confused:

So, What ive done now:
I took off all the drives (SATA and my 250GB IDE) rebooted, bios, enabled RAID0, setup windows.
Rebooted, and Windows finally started up...

.... but now im getting "The software you are installing for this hardware (driver name here) has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP"

Currently im just going to keep clicking yes, and continue the install of Windows.

Is this normal?
 
Yeah, that's normal, especially if you are using update drivers for the RAID controller.
