During a gaming session of Battlefield 2, my computer hardlocked and forced me to restart. It gave me the usual "windows did not start properly" error where I chose start normally. It did not even get to the XP logo before it restarted and brought me back to the same screen. I tried safe mode and last known working configuration. All did the same thing.

I went through the usual check RAM, video card drives and all checked out. I then swapped the X-FI to the other PCI slot and got the same thing. I removed the card completly and the problem was solved.

Try updating the bios on your DFI. There was an issue with NF4 boards and XFi. Most manufacturers have fixed it with a bios update. I don't know what the exact issue is but there is a long thread about the issues on Creatives forums.

Same damn thing happened to me to. We are using the same board, and same sound card! Im using the 704-2bta BIOS, what are you using? Have you fixed the issue?
 
I don't know what BIOS it is, but it is the default one that came with my mobo. Problem is not fixed, but I have sent an e-mail to Creative and I do intend to take advantage of there 60 day phone service. I'll let you know what happens.

I've done the same thing as well. I emailed them, and called there support. According to there tech support, there has been NO know issue! BULLSHIT :mad: I even told them about there website forum, and the man that I was talking to said "you should format your PC, and all should be well, is there anything else I can do for you?" I was so pissed.
 
Flash it to what? DFI hasnt had an offical bios update for the sli-dr since june.
