A 2010 document outlining the 720 was leaked. Microsoft legal had sites take it down, which confirms the legitimacy. If you are good you can still find it online. :p Microsoft expects to ship the console next year for $299, which includes Kinect v.2 It also is supposed to include full backwards compatibility for 360 games. Also expected things like Blu-ray are included. I find it interesting that the system will have separate CPU/GPU for applications as well as a CPU dedicated to just the system itself. This is a lot of hardware for $299. I'm having trouble believing some of it at that price.

Here's a nice writeup about it. http://kotaku.com/5918942/leak-or-h...oes-get-some-things-right-about-the-next-xbox

Scalable cores, might as well add scalable memory too. But wait, I already have a PC!!

I would guess $299 is w/o HDD! Gotta pay that Microsoft Tax.

I wonder if the 360 controllers will be compatible. I like my silver wireless controller with rotating d-pad...

Unlikely old accessories will be reusable. They need you to buy accessories to make up for selling the consoles at a loss.

just because microsoft is telling sites to remove the document doesn't mean thats the actual xbox 720.

um DEE DEE DEE, the reason for the scale-ability of the 720 is so that they can keep throwing out new versions of the 720 for the next 6-8 years. so they don't make the same mistake they made with the 360 and trying to milk its aging design for as long as they have.

so instead of the whole arcade/premium/elite differences only being the color and hard drive space. now they can say "the elite has 8 cores and X gpu and X memory and the premium has 4 cores Y gpu and Y memory, etc, etc, etc." then in 3 years they release the 720 extreme with 8 cores at 3Ghz instead of 2Ghz, and a gpu upgrade for what ever price they want. it ends up meaning they start making a profit off the console its self in 2-3 years instead of 4-5 years.

Sorry , looks like utter BS to me. I think MS will likely announce whatever they have at E3 2013 until then pure speculation is pure speculation.

That's not how consoles work sirmonkey. There is a reason systems today don't have all the hardware expansions they had in the 90s.

I just do not give a crap about XBOX anything.
Even if I was a 360 gamer, what possible innovation could make me care?
Sounds like they will go Kinect crazy and 3D next time around and I will sit on my couch and not care.

Gaming is dead. Long live gaming!

No clue if this is true at all, but I'd be happy with that. Give me 1080p, HD audio, tons of storage, Blu-Ray, and integrated Kinect.
It's shockingly close to what the PS3 promised way back when...so hopefully it isn't a paper tiger, again, assuming this is real.

I've been speculating for a while that one of the next gen consoles will be ARM/nVidia based.

Cheap, small, and reliable.

To me I think having integrated Kinect is a big deal. The Kinect is a but of a lame duck right now because it suffers from add-on syndrome. Nobody really wants to commit to something so niche, so it's relegated to being a gimmick.
However if everyone has one, it allows game makers to truly offer first-priority content for it.
We should actually get that experience MS showed when they announced it a few years ago.

Gimmick no matter what, i don't want to flail my fricking arms around like an idiot to control my console. It's wildly inefficient and you look like a retard.

I'd say more novelty than gimmick, because it's cool for about 15 minutes.

Seeing the reviews for Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, one of the biggest Kinect games this year, I have to agree.

I think it's pretty neat as long as it isn't forced in places it doesn't need to be...like the Wii games tend to be.
The voice commands definitely can work well, and motion controls are there if the game can stand to benefit from them.
Sub screen interfaces/inventory/etc. could be set-up like Minority Report, and games that involve physical interaction wouldn't be immediately relegated to having to be bundled with some kind of peripheral.

You need Kinect which is a typical MS cash grab since SOCOM did this very well on PS2. Even Endwar on 360 had good voice command (bad game still) using the headset and that was before Kinect.

The Kinect voice APIs are processed on the Kinect device and not possible without one.

Lol yea no.

Many games have voice input before, its not some new tech that Ms invented. They just force Kinect voice chat to sell units and to keep its base happy they bought the thing.

It's irrelevant how voice is handled in the future if the Kinect is actually bundled with the system. That should make everyone happy.
Personally, I hate wearing a headset and I have to dig mine out whenever I end up playing some kind of co-op game. Just yelling at my TV is a lot easier. Plus, in some instances it would offer you the opportunity to use voice commands for the game and still chat with your friends using a headset.

Just because a take down notice was sent does not automatically mean the document is real. They could want to prevent the spread of misinformation.

Which is why he said it's not possible without Kinect.
