Anyone got this working? I'm using an samsung s5. I have the otg cable and a wireless xbox 360 but when I plug it in nothing happens...
 
You can't make it work by plugging the controller itself into your phone. The wireless 360 controller doesn't transmit data over USB. You will need the USB dongle used for connecting the wireless controller to a PC or a wired controller.
 
Yeah, I've used the 360 wireless USB dongle on my Shield tab and phone (via USB OTG) as well and it works great. I've also used my PS3 controller (via USB and BT if rooted). But as Derangel said, you either have to have the 360 wireless receiver adapter for PC, or you can get a an actual wired/USB 360 controller

I have both the usb wireless dongle and also the otg cable. I bought both off of amazon not sure if either work. But when I use the otg cable and plug it into my phone with the wireless 360 controller the small green light blinks. Is any app needed if I have all the above or root?
 
Is your dongle an official MS dongle or a third party one? The third party ones (with a different hardware and vendor ID than Microsoft's) don't work on Android without some trickery.

If you can plug the dongle into a new Windows machine and have it instantly correctly identified as a wireless 360 receiver, it should just work on Android.

Here is the one I got. Windows seems to recognize it when I check device manager..but I haven't been able to get the Xbox controller to work on pc....

That's a 3rd party receiver, so all bets are basically off. It's only the official Microsoft branded device that is supported on Android.

If your device is rooted, there was a tutorial on XDA developers for adding device IDs for 3rd party receivers to the list, so I'd start by checking there. If you're not rooted or don't want to be, I'm not personally aware of any method for getting one to work that's not automatically recognized. The green light on the unit just means it is getting power from the USB port, not that the system has necessarily recognized it in any way.

I see so for android I need an official Microsoft wireless reciever? Cepeep you mentioned of I plug the dongle in and it works out should work with android? Windows seemed to have recognized it and installed proper drivers. Is any app needed for android to work or not?

To make your life easier on Android, you would want to try the MS dongle. $17 on Amazon:

Also if your controller doesn't work on PC, make sure you are doing the pairing correctly. Turn on the controller, then press the button on the dongle until it blinks, then press the pairing button on the controller. But with the fake controller no idea how it works. If you can't get it working on a PC, you definitely aren't going to get it working in Android. Send the dongle back and buy a real one. The janky fake dongle has 47% 5 star reviews, the real one has 88% 5 star reviews...

None that I can see. You could just drop $40 on another controller and a working MS dongle if you are desperate :) The "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows" comes direct from Amazon and includes a dongle.
 
Is that a Microsoft authentic version? Is there anyway test if the controllers wireless pairing function works? Whenever I plug the controller it comes on but when I unplug the charge and play kit i get nothing even when trying to pair it with the dongle...I get this when i plug the dongle into usb: The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

Now when i plug both the reciever and controller in then it sees both in the device manager...

Well it says right in the title "Xbox 360 Microsoft Authentic Wireless Pc Gaming Receiver for Windows" and says right below that "OFFICIAL MICROSOFT PC WIRELESS GAMING USB RECEIVER". Coupled with the stellar reviews, I'd say it's legit.

Did you try the installation instructions in the top review for that dongle?

I used it on Windows 7 64bit, and I had to install the driver myself.

To Do this
1.Right click on Computer
2.Go to Properties
3.Click on Device Manager
4.Right click on the Unidentified Device
5.Go to Properties
6.Go to the Drive tab
7.Click on "Update Driver"
8.Browse my computer for driver software
9.Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
10.Microsoft Common Controller for Window Class
11."Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows"
12.Update Driver Warning
13.Click Yes

If you can't get it to work with that dongle, then there's no way to test the controller without an actual 360 console or official dongle to pair it with.

I have the official Microsoft dongle (although mine is white and I've had it for several years now) and all I have to do is plug it into my PC or Android device, press the button on the dongle and power button on my controller, and it pairs instantly
 
Well ive done the above. When I go into device manager it shows both the Xbox 360 controller driver and wireless adaptor. However when I unplug the plug and play charge kit and plug the wireless dongle in and press the pair button on both the controller and wireless adaptor it does nothing...

what i was trying to say is if it possible that the controller sync function is broken and that is why it cannot connect with the wireless dongle? Or is this not possible?
Also where did you guys see Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows that comes with the wireless dongle as well for 40? I cant seem to find it anywhere on amazon..
 
i would find a friend with a 360 and see if it connects to it. Plus, the 360 dongle for pc been known to break. The controller is typically way more reliable then the dongle
 
Well the dongle is brand new but it's a zetta brand instead of the official Microsoft version. When I go into device manager Windows notices both the controller and dongle so the software side of the equation should be fine. Does anyone know where the Xbox 360 and wireless dongle is for 40?
