XBOX 1 vs PS4

PS4 is cheaper, more powerful, has user replaceable HDD.

XB1 has Halo.

Don't forget no online requirement and you can do what you want with your games.

I'm not a console gamer, but the PS4 is a no brainer.

I was thinking that the xbox was the one for me. something about sony's future concerns me...will sony be here (with all the problems it has) in 2 years from now? I know that ms will.
yeah the ps4 does sound like a better choice.

PS4:

Have to have Live Gold to play Free 2 Play games
Rather large form factor

Sony isn't as in as bad of shape as you think. Yes they aren't doing super, but they are not going anywhere. A company of that size doesn't just disappear. They have so many divisions, the SCE division that the Playstation and their games are part of is their most profitable division. They will make sure that division gets whatever it needs.

Microsoft already provides another list of cons

The Xbox One's Requirements:
  • Requires broadband internet (ISP fees apply), a Microsoft account and an account on Xbox Live in an Xbox One-supported Xbox Live country/region, and a 720p or higher HDMI-compatible TV. To receive live TV via broadcast or cable, a supported receiver device (television tuner or cable/satellite set top box) with HDMI output and an HDMI cable required (all sold separately).
  • Additional subscriptions, internet speed and/or requirements apply for some features.
  • Kinect Sensor for Xbox One (included) and periodic system software updates required for continued use; significant updates may be required during set-up and over time (ISP fees apply).
  • Some games are not transferable and have no resale value; restrictions on games usage shall apply.
  • Games, Kinect and accessories made for the Xbox 360 or the original Xbox will not work with Xbox One.
  • The Xbox One system software uses a significant amount of storage; less internal storage will be available to users. 500 GB = 500 billion bytes.
  • You must accept the Xbox Terms of Use (including the Xbox software terms and game license terms), Microsoft's Services Agreement, and the Xbox One's 1-year limited warranty. Some games have additional license terms.
  • Terms include a binding arbitration with a class action waiver to resolve disputes.
  • Some additional requirements will apply.

Though you do get an addiotional character for Double Helix's (hehehe) fighting game and an exclusive achievement if you preorder the console and buy a 12 month subscription to the service which allows you to do the same, and costs more than a Roku. Also the writer of this is an idiot, it's "Xbox One's Limited 1 year limited warranty" (seriously is a possessive such as 's such a difficult grammatical thing? Also why do they use hyphens in stupid places and miss articles?), though it does show people that they don't have any confidence in it's build quality or think of It as a quality product.

Day One Xbox Live Gold 12 month membership:

Available in limited quantities at select retailers while supplies last. Includes Shadow Jago character for Killer Instinct, for use only with Xbox One; both expected to be released in November 2013. Additional Killer Instinct characters sold separately; requires 4 GB storage, for download only on Xbox One. Shadow Jago available exclusively with Day One Xbox Live Gold until February 1, 2014; may be available elsewhere later.

It's like a big stupid people test. I wonder how many will fail. :D

Sony is a company that was founded right after the end of the war in 1946. They make consumer electronics (PS, TV, Audio) they are a film production studio and record company. They also are an insurance provider and financial asset holdings company. They also own banks. They are not going to run out of money any time soon.

Then why are their shares and bonds valued at dirt? Sony has less available funds than either Nintendo or Microsoft, and is trying to run multiple failing businesses at once. Yes, their phones are getting more sales recently, but their home entertainment equipment (not game systems) has been in the dumps for a while. They've been losing money like a seive, and they need to make a profit on the PS4 ASAP.

I have no idea why this is such a issue with you. Who when buying a computer looks at the company's financial standings, stock prices, bonds, and shares value? Just buy what will be most beneficial to you as the consumer. It's not like you are investing millions into a unestablished company. If you've ever owned a Playstation product then the name speaks for itself, and after watching Sony's E3 conference should also make the decision easier.

If you are a investor, then I can understand why you would look at how Sony stands financially but if you are just looking at playing some great games with less restrictions then the Playstation will fit your needs. Other than Nintendo, Sony has been in the gaming business for a long time and has the best-selling consoles... the PS2 currently leading at 155 million sold and the Playstation at #4 with 104 million sold. With Son'y exclusives and standing in the gaming business, they have a lot of support and really back up their products for years.

It's such an issue with me because I don't like buying console after console after console when they fail. After 5 PS2s, you have to draw a line.

I'm also talking about the company's longevity. The reason the Dreamcast went down in flames and took down SEGA with them, is because they were in dire straights financially and couldn't keep the system going. Not only is it expensive to research and produce a console, if the company isn't able to sell a console for a profit, they have to have the funds to subsidize it until they can finally make their money back YEARS later. How many years did it take before the PS2 became profitable? Some estimates suggest it took as long as 5 years, despite massive sales.

After thinking about that, it's entirely possible Microsoft is putting Sony into a position where they run themselves out of money and they win by default. And that's... a disturbing and, frankly, a disgusting way to do business.

The class-action waiver is complete and utter BS. That is the one and only reason you need to know not to buy it.

Wow, you must have been very unlucky. I bought a original PS2 and had zero problems with it during it's entire lifetime. Same with my PS3. Bought my 20GB PS3 at launch and had only a disk read error which I sent back to Sony to fix and never a problem since. My Xbox on the other hand... I am on my 3rd Xbox 360.

I have not read anywhere that Sony is doing bad. In fact, I never even heard about Sony's apparently negative financial standings. But really I would simplify your lookout on this. Both consoles you will have fun with. Look at some of the game videos, and decide which is better for you. Simple.

Lol @ not buying a Sony product because of 5 failed PS2's

Did you sleep through the first 5 years of xbox 360 when millions of them were frying with the red ring of death? I don't know a SINGLE person that didn't have to replace one.

Just noticed today when I was looking at my sons laptop that the PS4 looks like his Alienware M15X with the lid closed with its angled edges.

Since with the XB1 you are buying a software license... I'm guessing they will do something like Steam-sales.

PS4 will not ask you to do this

tumblr_lxyglqwG231qhwexfo1_500.jpg

XBONER will.

The first Xbox had Knights of the Old Republic 1+2 and Jade Empire.

Pro: they're both black

Con: they're both black

It's a toss-up.

If you're into math: One < 4

Pros:

.....Yep nothing

Cons:

neither is a PC
Dark Souls 2 won't be released for them
Likely release nothing but shit for the first 2 years
Hidden cost and fee's
No reach around

I'm just glad the Xbox One is so fucked up that even I don't want to buy it. I LOVE Forza, cars, and Mclaren(I drove a real MP4-12C) and when I saw Forza 5 had the Mclaren P1 I said "Fuck...I'm going to want to buy it for that."

Well, the thing is so fucked up with their Kinect requirments and every 24 hour check in that I could care less about getting to drive the Mclaren P1.

Just buy the real thing, it'll probably cost less in the long run.

Another con is the xbox 1 controller still doesn't come with a rechargeable battery unlike the ds4 so expect to buy another play and charge kit on top of everything else.

My current stock of Enloops will work just fine.

ps2 issues were nowhere, NOWHERE, near as widespread as the RROD and you alone had 5 go bad on you?

shens... or you must be the most unlucky person in the world.

I agree. I STILL have my ps2 slim AND fat and nether have had a single problem. Both also still work.

Lol M$ had to extend there warranties because there system was so fucked at first. Give me a break...

Has it been confirmed whether or not the PS4 will be able to play PS3 games? Gran Turismo 6 is coming out for sure for the PS3, but a PS4 version is still up in there (or at least last I heard). If the PS4 version is confirmed, then I don't care so much. Lol.

Neither system is they went from IBM ppc to X86 not happening.

same here

NGC is 12 years old
PS2 Slim is about 9 years old
PS3 Slim is about 3 years old
Wii was 7 years old as I just sold it to help offset the Wii U purchase.

Only console that I had die on me was the MS one...

Only console that I had die on me was the MS one...

I went thru
3 PS2's disc drives
2 PS3's ylod/bluray drive
2 Xbox 360 launch units rrod

Still have my launch
N64
GC
Dreamcast
Wii
And 3 original xboxs
That all work perfect

2 360s models I've had since they came out they are flawless and silent.

Are they making a PC edition of GTA5? If they are, it could eventually end up on the new consoles since it wouldn't be too difficult to port it over at that point.

Why does such a change negate the ability to use older games? I feel like this is a definite "oh duh" question.

Your on [H] and you ask that! Jk

Because they would have to either have to redo every game to X86 and the new GPU's in Sony case going from nvidia to AMD. Or they would need one hell of a software emulator.

It just won't happen.

Wii U can because even though far more powerful than the Wii they stuck with a IBM based CPU and still are using AMD GPU.

and the Wii U does an awesome job of emulating a Wii... too bad they took out the GC compatability though... that would have been awesome to have a console that could play 3 generations of games... just like the original PS3 could...
