Wow framerate issues

So I spend a good chunk of my gaming time these days playing world of warcraft. Recently, I've been having framerate issues where I think that I shouldn't. I haven't, however, been able to pin down the source of these issues. It only happens when I'm on big 40-player raids, but I get an FPS level of less than 15. It doesn't seem to matter what resolution I have the game set at. I generally run the game in the windowed/maximized (effective 1280x1024) mode so that I can have full-screen performance, as well as utilize my second monitor for internet browsing, music, IRC, et cetera. When I know that I will have performance issues, I will crank the resoultion down to 800x600 in full screen mode, but the issues persist.

It sounds to me like the bottleneck here is my ram. Would this be an accurate assessment? My system specs are below. I can't live with this slideshow ruining my gaming experience. I'm also looking for some upgrade advice, to keep this system alive and kicking until AMD's new socket hits the market. Would a 6600gt or a 6800nu run this system better?

Thanks for any insight you can offer.

I have almost the same system as you do with a 5700 Ultra. I get the same issues but I would think it had more to do with your video card than RAM. My roommate plays with 2 GB RAM and a 3.4 GHz Pentium 4, but an X300 SE and the lag is much worse on his machine.

Good Luck.

Hrm. OK, I guess I'll look into picking up a 6800nu for the time being, maybe I'll snag another gig of RAM over Christmas break when I can come up with the cash.
