Servers are down for maintenance, so I thought I would check out the forums. LOL
Went to the general forum and looked at the sticky on the test servers, more then half the posts on the first page are a bunch of useless posts from people trying to get in on the first page, in fact, thats all they say, praising themselves for making the first page, Where the heck are the mods on that forum.

Most of the other threads are full of a bunch of whiners complaining about this class and that is to powerful and such, there is almost nothing there worth reading, and what is there thats worth it is burried in a bunch af crap and so hard to find you give up on it.

God I love the [H]!
 
Heh, yet amazingly the child-population of the WoW forums pales in comparison to the actual child-population in the actual game :rolleyes:

Yeah there are alot of Kiddies in game also, but the majority of the players in game act halfway normal, why is it that the forums are such an extreme level of childishness! If the behavor of the forums were reflected ingame, then the game would be unplayable!

I read the WoW forum only when I want to see patch updates. Otherwise its a complete waste of time. People aren't even kind on that forum - i.e. someone actually makes an intelligent post regarding an ingame issue and the typical follow up post will be something like "so quit/good riddance"...

The mod on the WoW gen forum has to have incredible patience IMO. The posts are plentiful and the attitude horrendous.
 
Don't ever go into the General forums... ever. Whenever I go to the forums now, I basically just stick to the one for my server.

Obligatory nerf shout... NERF DRUIDS! That Moonfire spamming has got to stop!
 
Heh, I don't play WoW, and probably never will, but I go read the forums from time to time just for the sake of amusement. :D
 
Haven't Blizzard forums always been a waste?

I remember the .99999999... = 1 argument and all the idiots saying it wasn't possible.
 
i agree with everything said here.. it's actaully amazing that people can act so retarded on those forums.. the only explanation I can think of is that they are all teens or preteens who act like morons anyway since they are going through the big hormone change! The forums are worthless, and so has become the game, it's so boring I'm letting my account run out and am not renewing
 
The UI mods forum is surprisingly good. The people on there are usually helpful (at least from what I've seen).
 
I think a big problem with the forums is, the lack of communication to the community. Even if there is communication, it is the same cut and paste responces. The forums are supposed to be a place to discuss the game, and inquire about technical support (at least thats what the cut and paste GM messages say in-game). So when there is no communication between the public and the developers ... well things will go down hill ... real quick.
 
To be fair, almost all "Offical" forums for large games are crap, for the same reason that WOW forums are. It is only when you get to smaller titles that it might go away. The Hearts of Iron forums tend to be pretty good overall.
 
WoW forums are a joke. they seem to always have something wrong with them. A few weeks back, they threw them down for maintenence and there was still something wrong with them even after they brought them back up.
oh well, thats why [H]ardForums is here, the best forum of the best.
 
The worst things about the WOW forums are the mods. They are complete and utter useless pcs of bat shit. The do not pass on a single pce of useful information and only participate if the user uses some form of call for a "BLUE" response in the title of the thread. They seem to have unlimited time to lock threads for any of the following reasons:

1) Posting in all caps.
2) Threads asking for them to pull their heads out of their asses and actually fix something.
2a) Same as #2 for specific class bugs.
3) Threads not seen as constructive: i.e. anyone who points out serious problems with their software
4) Posts asking why threads were locked or deleted.
5) Phrase “working as intended” ring any bells??

But no time to respond to realm issues or serious class issues. Some forums have not seen a blue post in months... bloodyfuckingpathetic.

I loved the bruhaha a few weeks ago when they tried to transfer a whole Guild of their fucktard friends to a new realm under the table and got busted. They started locking threads and banning posters immediately, but it was too late. First they tried to deny it happened because they said it could not be done. Then when the evidence stacked up then they offered up a lame ass retraction with an even lamer excuse. These guys would make Dan Rather proud.

Basically the mods act like forum Gestapo for Blizz. They control the type of information on the forum. Nothing useful to the end user of course, just there to cover Blizz's ass or respond to the many thousand !!!!!! sucking up threads. I got banned for 24hrs for asking serious questions. I was not using bad language or spamming. They said my posts..( now mind you, I was responding to threads, not starting them) were causing disruptions on the forums. In other words I was telling the truth and got banned for it. Using this banning/do not post about locked threads combo they can basically shut down any thread without recourse. Your only avenue of recourse is to mail a GM or forum mod.. yep, thats right, the same useless motherfucker that just banned you is your only avenue for a rebuttal. Nice system for Blizz.. let the wolves be in charge of watching the sheep.

Anyway /end rant, thats my 2c about the POS blizz forums...
 
Sounds a lot like the SWG forums. NERF NERF NERF! And then all the losers who complained the most quit after they ruined the game by listening to them :rolleyes:

I have a feeling its just the same unskilled jerks who hope from one MMO to the other and leave a trail of gutter slime in the wakes of every game they cry over.... :rolleyes:
 
The real problem is that people expect their every need to be catered to because they spend $15 a month to play a video game There is only so much development time that can be put into the game during a given month. People need to realize this and just play instead of whining and complaining all the time. Imagine constantly calling and berating the cable company or your TELCO for the smallest things (and look how much more you pay for these services compared to WoW.) I can understand if people are upset over connectivity or technical issues. But the amount of idiots hanging themselves over the fact that their helm is ugly or a certain quest reward wasn't enough is insane.

Maybe it's just me but I am so sick and tired of the corny ass catch phrases the bnet tards use (ftw, qft, omgwtfbbq). Seeing that crap makes me want to punch someone in the face.
 
WOW started off awesome and is being run into the ground by incompetent developers and a shoddy PVP system.

The terrible message boards and communication between devs and players is just making it worse.

Getting there IMO. Virtually my entire guild quit playing including myself, and almost all of us played since beta or launch.

My character is level60 warrior, but the PVP honor system is a joke, ever since patch 1.4 the game has been spiraling downwards, devs virtually destroying the game in an effort to make the fundamentally flawed honor system work. The fact that Blizzard can't fix basic problems with classes too like the warlock that have been around since launch is also annoying. Finally there has been no new content added since beta except the honor system (dire maul was in beta), and the honor system takes no skill, has no risk vs. reward, and is just plain boring. Class balance in PVP is also problematic with the way the honor system was implemented.
 
i dunno. i don't pvp much yet. But i'm 60 and still loving the game. To each their own. There will always be people who lvl to max then quit. that's the nature of some folks.
 
You can guess which of the people who posted in this thread also post on the WoW forums. ;)
 
It wont fall off too much imho. Once the next brightest and shiny MMO comes out, alot will leave for it, but you'll still have the core player base that will continue on. Every single mmo still running has it, so i wouldn't worry too much about it...

Not to incite a riot or anything, but this is why I think the way Guild Wars handles forums is fairly brilliant. They don't have their own forums, but do post at and are actively involved in the forums of the bigger fansites around. That way they can talk about the meat of the game without getting burned out on forum maintenance. Let the fansites do the maintenance.

 
it's not even just the maintenance, it's the overhead

without a monthly influx of cash, they need to keep costs at an absolute minimum

Isn't that the case for every blizzard game. The programmers do a awesome job making a sweet game then blizzard lets it go down the toilet due to no support. D2 hasn't got a ladder update in over 7 months now and most people have quit since they are so bored with it now. I know I haven't played that much in the last 3 months. And the hacking and duping... oh my ... such wonderful blizzard support.... er not. This is the reason that almost the whole Diablo team left and there probably wont be a d3 anytime soon because the new programmers need to get themselves acquainted with the system.

I think alot of the problem with Diablo2 is the cheaters, only way to stop it is for the servers to maintain all the charactor info and that will cost to much for blizzard on a game that is well passed its prime. I would have to say so far that Blizzard has done a wonderful job with WoW with all things considered, however its just the forums that need alot of attention, I would rather the game be great and the forums crappy than the other way around. The SWG forums was the same way however the game also sucked because SOE had no idea what the gamers wanted and I really dont think they even cared sense a die hard Star Wars fan would still play it even if it caused cancer(dont take ofense if your a Die Hard Fan, that is what I think SOE is thinking!).
 
People with lvl 60 chars complaining about content: Start a new character but play the other faction. If have only played an Aliance char, then you have missed a truckload of Horde content. Is only me who sees this? I think a lot of these people dont even enjoy playing but are addicted to the treadmill. Ironically, they are so addicted they will never cancel their account. Instead they will constantly complain and muddy up the forums. Going on and on about how they are gonna quit because it sucks so hard for their lvl 60 to be off the treadmill. lol

I guess the game is worth a shot, but I don't really see much about it that is "Diablo-esque". I would rather see the original dungeon crawl style that Diablo always had, but with a better world / levels / gameplay / online experience.

Apologies in advance if this is getting too offtopic.


Seems to me that they are trying to actually progress the story and the technology, not just do a re-hash (which is what the rumors I'd heard say is the reason they all left). Here is what looks like happened to me:

Diablo 2:LoD ends. The bad guys are more or less stuck in hell again with no easy ticket back, but the safety latch on the door is broken. So it takes them a thousand years or so to break through again. In that time, the world has grown comfortable and more or less forgotten about what had happened in the past. When the demons and other baddies break through, the people aren't ready, and are overwhelmed. Cue beginning of the game*.

Technology-wise, the move to 3D was inevitable. As such, it seems such a waste to use it to render the same static isometric viewpoint as before, so they switch to 1st person, and say "What else can we do with this viewpoint/interface that we couldn't before?".

I'm not a paying member of FileShack, so I haven't been able to see the new gameplay clip, but from the previews and impressions that I have found so far, things sound more or less positive. The vibe I'm hearing is that once you get used to the viewpoint/interface changes, it starts to feel like an evolution of the gameplay fundamentals that made Diablo great.


* Note: this is my interpretation of the bridge between the two worlds. I have not read or seen anything online officially or unoficially representing these ideas.

General forums have nothing on the realm forums where there are no moderators looking

in on what is being posted. Just check Drama-Wing(Deathwing) forums to see the crap

and bile that is posted on.

On the other point of the state of general game. The PVP reward system is actually pretty

good only problem is the non implementation of battlegrounds when it went live and

basically left everyone with a carrot on stick mentality in which they want the pvp rewards

so they just go out and try to find a fight anywhere and everywhere. After trying out the

battlegrounds on the test server and the bonuses you get inside it for it the mindless just

random ganking will pretty much come to an end. Most people will just be interested in

getting higher contribution points and the only place to get them will be inside

battlegrounds.
 
The official WoW forums is utter crap.. but all is not lost there.
The realm forums is a good place to read up on the drama on
your local server. Ninja looters, gankers, corpse campers, etc
And who can craft reapers, etc

Also the profession forum has a UBER helpful FAQ posted
that keeps up to date information on all skills. The smithing
FAQ is my personal WoW bible.. I hope you find a chapter
in there you can use as well :D

As for the idiots, just go into any class forum or the general forum.
I really enjoy the topic on how mages want their damage to scale
even higher just because they are not "uber" in MC etc. Last time
I checked, is it almost impossible for my 60 war to even compete
on a equal footing in pvp with them. Alliance mages can suck a
fat one! ([H]orde for life!)

Oh and the ninja server transfer for that guild was utter GOLD when
I read about it.. It was like a good drama! :p So in conclusion..
take what you need from there, and don't let the fat kill you.
