WoW Epic Rolling

This is my method on rolling and not rolling.

If its not bind on pick up Roll on it no matter what it is, thats what AH is for, everyone needs money. You have the right to Roll on anything regardless.

If it is bind on pick up, don't roll unless you can and will use it. No one gets priority, if you can use it, Roll it.

And just because a tank is clueless on how to hold agro doesn't mean you need to compensate for it
Not sure why people think warriors have some magical ability to always hold aggro when the group is fighting 3-4 mobs. Sure, we have several nice taunt abilities and aggro inducing abilities, but don't magically hold aggro. They're also prone to resists and missing, so sometimes despite our best efforts, we cannot pull a mob off you immediately. Hunters love to have their pet tank a mob, which then kills their pet, and makes a beeline for the hunter, afterwhich it is damn near impossible to get the mob off him. My other favorite thing is when I switch targets to taunt a mob off a hunter and they immediately start attacking it again. Brilliant. Keep in mind sometimes it not worth switching targets to taunt when your chance of death is small or their is a bigger threat to deal with.

Sometimes it's tough to accept that you're expendible.

I agree on this one, but I hate large guild and how they like to label weapons and gear for the reason they want to be celebrities of those servers.

Not my link, and its slow.

No you can't bonko, because everybody else says so. Remember I am a priest therefore all I can do is heal. Oops...sorry, forgot the sarcasm button. The problem with gear is entitlement versus effort. Most people feel enttitled to something just because it was created just for them. It doesn't matter if they did the MC run one once or 100x. If it truely was created just for them then Blizzard would make it X class only....not "cloth", "mail", etc. However the gear isn't structured that way and therefore this "bitch" point.

Finally a voice of reason.

Personally I would rather see the same class with different epic / legendary weapons. It makes that character original, I would rather have different looking characters of the same class, rather then a cookie cutter approach.

sup with every class getting an epic quest but not warriors? =/

warriors do have an epic quest

you get a whepon call qual'thasar(sp) its a very nice one hand sword with high dps (round 50) with a nice proc that give +armor and +defensive skill

first you have to find the epic book in Dire Male give it to the normal book guy, he gives you a quest item sword which you have to stick into onxyia and let her do her fire breath on and kill her in 15mins after it is fire breated on then you turn that "new" sword back to the guy that gave it to you

Speaking of which, I'm curious as to what everyone thinks their job is as a hunter. I think I'm dps and caster-saver. I focus on the MA's target, but when a caster pulls too much aggro, I will pull the mob off them and tank them until they can be CC again ( or until the main target is down ). As the only class alliance side that wears mail at the high end, I see that as my job.

So far my main role in parties has been the "ass-saver." If somebody gets in trouble, I can almost immediatly pull a mob off anybody else in the party if they get in trouble. I can also be used as a much more moble damage dealer. For example, in the final boos battle in Gnomeregan, I sent my pet in and I could continue attacking him, while running around to close all of the bomb tubes that would open up.

I havn't seen you on in a while Bane , you still playing ?
True, i've just been really wrapped up in my main as of late. Trying to get all of my shadowcraft. We took Kazzak down last night, that was pretty cool.

It all comes down to who you're grouping with and whether or not you want to be greedy. Personally I'd rather have friends and a good rep over some extra gold.

A lot of people underestimate Hunters because it's one of the most popular classes and a lot of Hunters suck. If you're good you can be as much a utility as anyone (except tanks and healers because they're the core of any group). What Hunter's bring to the group mostly are sustained DPS, traps, debuffs (str + agi, and mana drain), attack power buff (if you have trueshot aura), aggro control, and an extra tank (sometimes).

Last night me (lvl 58), my pet (lvl 55) and a lvl 60 priest in my guild were killing lvl 56 - 59 elite dragonkin in the Winterspring cave...sometimes 2 at a time because they respawn so fast. My pet was losing aggro fast because I need to level him but what we were doing was bouncing the aggro back and forth. If they attacked the priest I'd hit em with distracting shot. Then they'd come to me and I'd tank a little, then use disengage and send em back to the priest...shoot a few shots and grab the aggro again :).

All this aside. Agilent, come play halo 2 with us again. We miss you buddy. :)

Lmao, maybe I will for old time's sake. But WoW has my soul...and I'm the guildmaster of the [H] guild on Stormscale.

I can't let the others get to a higher lvl than me! :p

You want an almost invincible 2 man team? Do hunter + pally. The pally's buffs combined with the hunter's debuffs makes the amount of damage put out incredible, and the amount taken miniscule.

For example, last week me (32 at the time) and a 34 pally were questing in the Venture Co. Base Camp in STV. We were tearing apart everything. Then came one LONG 10 minute battle.
1) 2 lvl 37 shredders + lvl 34 Geomancer
2) 3 lvl 34 Geomancers
2.5) 41 Tauren Warrior came in midway thru fight
3) 1 37 shredder
4) 2 more 34 Geomancers

We took all of them down in continual combat (meaning less than 2 seconds out of combat mode at a time) with only losing my pet. At the time, my pet was doing over 30dps buffed (Mistvale Ape), and I was doing around 57dps melee and a tad over 60 ranged.

I wasn't talking about a warrior that does hold aggro: And further, in a good group, everyone should be attacking the MA's target, which pretty much negates any problems with aggro. When you have a tank that can't hold aggro under these circumstances, you have a seriously brain dead tank. I've run into quite a few, and have had to save the priest and mage more times than I can count.
They're also prone to resists and missing, so sometimes despite our best efforts, we cannot pull a mob off you immediately. Hunters love to have their pet tank a mob
What level are we talking about here? Any hunter past ~40 who is having his pet growl at the mob in an instance is a problem waiting to happen. Cower is a key ability, or just turn growl off.
My other favorite thing is when I switch targets to taunt a mob off a hunter and they immediately start attacking it again. Brilliant. Keep in mind sometimes it not worth switching targets to taunt when your chance of death is small or their is a bigger threat to deal with.
Again, this doesn't sound like a good group. In a good group, at high level, everyone assists the MA. That way, you don't have problems with the priest running out of mana because he'/she is healing 3 people instead of one.

Sometimes it's tough to accept that you're expendible.
If you need to feel better about a class you play on a video game, then feel free to believe that the group can't live without you. The fact is, all classes are expendible, but you don't want to lose anybody. That's the mark of a good group: If you can lose anybody and still make it through the fight.

I guess you thought that was a personal assault against you, but it wasn't. It was just an observation.

I wasn't talking about a warrior that does hold aggro:
and I wasn't talking about a hunter that knows his role...

I just get tired of people blaming the warrior for not holding aggro when someone in the group is doing all they can to make the warriors job harder.

I'm just curious...how many people have looted Epic items while soloing?

I just got my second last night and both were in Felwood.
Too bad they're both items I couldn't use but at least they sell for good amount on the AH.

The first was a shield: Wall of the Dead
Last night I got a Mace: Hammer of the Northern Wind

Now where's my Dwarven Hand Canon? :)

I have a level 55, level 21, and level 35, and thought playing all of these guys I have only ever recieved two epic drops. One was kho's point (something like that) it was an epic polearm which was kinda cool. The other was a ring ... woop de woo, and it was nothing spectacular.

I have a month's worth of /played, and I don't believe I've ever had an epic drop.

what we do is when we form up a raid group, we most always use people we know (saves trouble and wipes) and state the rules of the looting before we go. if people have problems with the rules, they dont go.

in general, most people are decent, and want to get good stuff, without being greedy. we try to get class specific stuff to their class. it just depends. however, when we find a player is a wanker and rolls on stuff he isn't supposed to, we warn him once, then kick him out of the group.

this rarely happens though...

I had some people pissed at me for rolling and winning on the Baron's mount at level 59. I don't care what level you are but anyone can roll on the mount if you ask me.

an epic mount is something everyone can use...thats just silly

That is what I thought! It was a 60 paladin who got mad. Of all classes to get mad, he did, with his free horse, lol.

I equate it to the old stereotype that guys buy nice sportscars to make up for there small peen size. The Paladin was obviously mad at you because he wanted the Barons mount for much the same reason. Hes a Pally so he needs something cool to make up for the fact he sucks.

I'm lvl 60 with 25+ days played. I've yet to see an epic drop for me while solo.

I have a level 60 Paladin and Shaman and a level 30 Priest. I have played around 55 days and have never received a purple drop. The best drop I have ever soloed were Wyrmslayer Spaulders, my luck just sucks I guess

As a lvl 46 NE Rogue I got my first epic drop yesterday, Robes of Insight cloth. I was estatic even though it was of no use to me. 160G for it :D

My main is a L53 hunter, and I think I've received a total of either 4 or 5 rare, and no epic drops during the time I've played. Generally the only time I will go on instance runs at all with my hunter is in groups with other hunters. I've never done any of the high level instances (highest level one I've done is SM) but when you get 4 or 5 hunters with pets zerging an instance, watch out... It won't be a pretty site for either side.
