Won't POST without clearing CMOS everytime

I'm thinking that my motherboard might be bad.. Everytime I restart or even cold boot, I have to open up my case and clear the CMOS.
It use to do this when I first got my motherboard but I could not return it because I was going out of town with it to a major LAN. I upgraded my motherboard, RAM, processor, and just recently my video card. It eventually stopping doing this for the past week. Then last night my computer started freezing in games so I just shut down and went to sleep. This morning I boot up and then start to play some games and freezes about 37 seconds into it. After I try to reboot it doesn't post. I decided that I might be overheating since it's only freezing in games. I clean it up and apply some AS-Cemarique. Turn it on and still no POST. Cleared the CMOS and then it booted up. I went into the BIOS to change it back to how I had it. No post.. Cleared the CMOS and here I am!
I'm thinking that this is my motherboard, processor, or my double sided ram is conflicting. Help! :confused: :confused:
 
ok several things can make this happen -
reseat your video card - as a card not fully in the agp port can cause this issue (make sure it isnt overheating too)
check the battery on the motherboard - it prolly is weak/dead - buy a new one (you can get them at Radio Slack or some watch stores)
Do a deep clear of your cmos as it may be corrupted - unplug the power supply from wall - turn it on then off ( to remove any charge) set your cmos jumper to clear - remove battery for 30 minutes or more - then put everything back in - should reset to original cmos -
be careful with this - flash new bios -
the cmos chip may be bad - happens
check your cabling - as molex connectors can slip/short - check your drive cables too as they can slip out...
Is your power supply powerful enough or has it been strained recently (power spike)?
 
It seems reflashing my bios with a floppy and not the "flash in windows" thing worked. I've restart 3 or 4 times without a problem :D

:mad: Seems this only fixes it for a day or 2. Then I just reflash the BIOS and it's back. I don't really mind it that much, but it scares me that I'm flashing them so often. I go to LANs alot which makes me even more scared since theres much more possibility of the power going out or something. Any reason why it only works for this short time?

I've tried all of that except getting a new battery and I don't see any physical damage to the CMOS chip.. Help :(
 
If you dont want to wait for the board to be RMA'd one more thing to try is break down the entire system and rebuild it, the board could be touching the case or another wire causing it to short.
 
Just a thought check the bios and see if any of the alarm restart features are activated. I use a koolance system so i have no fans plugged into the mobo as a result my mobo was wiggin out the first few boots because i didnt disable the monitoring of the cpu fan
