Wireless USB vs PCMCIA

My roomate recently picked up a cheap laptop off some kid at school. He has reformated it and set it up to his liking. One problem is that it doesn't have a wireless adapter. I was browsing online at tigerdirect Here.

My question is, are there any advantages for one over the other? I could see that the USB stick sticking out could be an annoyance, but then again so is a pcmcia card sticking out of the side.

Usb has the advantage of being able to use it on mostly any computer. But you would probably lose it quicker.
 
For a laptop..I'd go with a PCMCIA....solely on the point of durability. A laptop will be moved around..perhaps sitting on lap, etc. A USB stick will be susceptible to being put under pressure, bumped, snapped, etc. PCMCIA..granted they still stick out a bit..but still stronger and more durable.

Thank you for the responses. So it sounds like it's just going to be a preference? I'm a little more fond of PCMCIA and agree with what you say above, and if there really isn't any performance differences i'll probably end up going that route.
