wireless/shared file security

I would like to share a folder with a specific user on a wireless network. When I go to the sharing and security setting I can't seem to find the network users to select them. I have windows xp on both machines and use a linksys wrt5454g and wusb54g for the network. I've looked for sites on shares and permissions but haven't found how to limit access to specific network users. Any advice or links to file sharing and network settings(especially group policy and permission tutorials) appreciated. I am able to share the folder with the network however I don't want someone to spoof my mac address and have access. WPA security is enabled. If more info is needed I will post it. Thank you.

Have you disabled Simple File Sharing?
Any folder -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Simple File Sharing (in the checkbox list). Kill it. That enables your security panel.

Now right click on the folder, enable the share, and set permissions. Make sure an account exists on the sharing computer for the user who should have access. Also make sure to set sharing (network) and system (file) permissions both.

As a rule, I don't trust anything travelling over 802.11. However, I'm not overly familiar with WPA; maybe it's improved things. If you want data security, though, I advise running a VPN tunnel on top of your wireless connection. As for MAC spoofs... unless WPA has made leaps and bounds, you can't prevent them, so use strong passwords.

If you enable the share on the folder then go to computer manager you can change the settings on the share and only allow access to certain users.
