I have a wired Linksys router that is connected to my DSL and to an old Linksys 16 port switch (via the uplink port on the router) that works just great for my home network.
I have recently acquired a wireless router+switch that I would like to add to the mix, but when I plug it directly into the switch, I get nothing. I would like to use both the wired and wireless capabilities of this second router (two computers plugged into it, and 1 notebook connected wirelessly). I have disabled DHCP, but it still wreaks havoc on my network.
Might it be having problems with the older 16 port switch? Should it connect directly to one of the open ports, or to the uplink port on the switch, and if so, does it require a crossover cable? If I actually manage to get it connected, will the IP address from the wired router be propagated to the notebook via the wireless router, or do I need to have IT being the DHCP server?
Sorry for the long question....if there is a guide that explains this, I'd love to read it.
