"Windows is shutting down" message randomly

So new build, E6400, Asus P5B-E mobo, Buffalo DDR2 667 Value ram, 7600GT, WD Sata 250HDD.

The computer will sometimes boot into windows fine and then just it shuts down randomly. The message "Windows is shutting down" comes up and it plays the shutting down sound. Shuts down all the programs properly. We try to boot it up after that and sometimes it will load, most of the time it just power cycles and never boots.

This is the 2nd motherboard, we had grounding problems but those have since been resolved. TAT is reading about 42/40c for the chip, under load it gets to about 60c using the stock cooler. This sounds like a heat issue but those temps are no where near the 85c threshold of the chip. Any ideas?

Initially, this sounds like a virus or worm to me. Are you getting a warning message with a 60 second countdown timer until the machine actually shuts down?

Nope, just like normal shut down. It's not a virus, fresh XP install, not on the network yet.

Since I wrote the post, it seems to be a faulty power switch on the case. Doesnt surprise me since it's a Coolermaster case. I removed the switch off the board and jumped it with a screwdriver, seems to be working fine now. We are going to stress test it overnight.
