Is this app a RDC app or VNC? I ask because in win7, I used to be able to remote into a machine whilst another user was logged in without problems. Using this app in windows 8 appears to be a vnc client not allowing 2 users on the machine at the same time. Any idea how I can use it with multiple users on the same machine?

If you try and RDP to a machine with a user already logged on locally, it should prompt to force the user to log off. It should not allow you to have an RDP session open with a local user without some hacks to the OS.

I don't believe VNC is used by anything but 3rd party vendors. Anything built in for windows is RDP.

The remote desktop application in Windows 8 uses RDP without question.

Multiple concurrent sessions requires that the target machine has terminal services and licenses. Are you trying to remote desktop to the same environment as you were when you used Windows 7 remote desktop?
