Windows 11 doesn't recognize keyboard at boot

Having an odd issue with windows 11 not recognizing the keyboard, occasionally, at boot. Problem has persisted through a complete reload of the OS (for unrelated reasons) including de/reconstructing the RAID.

The problem is isolated to windows, as I was dual-booting mint and had no issues there. Windows does turn on the kb backlighting.

I've searched google high and low, and can't find anything except "your kb connection is loose" which doesn't make sense because it only happens at boot, is easily remedied by a reboot, and didn't affect linux.

I've tried driver updates with no luck. I've had trouble with ROG keyboards forever, but usually, it's the keys falling off.

yeah, internal. thank you for the reply.

asus is useless: even when a laptop is *in* warranty they won't cover it (my last three ROG's had keyboard buttons fall off, and I was on the hook for the repairs.)

ah, so theyre still their same old selves....
have you checked in windows updates optional section, just in case theres something in there.

yes, no optional updates available. it was happening both before and after the 25H2 update.

I just thought of something, I could try the old: delete the driver, and let windows reinstall it.

see if that gets me anywhere. of course, when i delete it, it'd be a real bummer if i can't interface with the OS to get a driver reinstalled!

use an external kb.

use an external kb.

And back up your shit while using the external keyboard. Or use Linux to back it up if your Windows partition isn't encrypted.
