Ok my computer is pretty damn new, only a few days old, it was running like a beast at first, took only 2 scroll bars give or take on the XP load screen to start up. Somehow now it takes 7 bars give or take, and I got an extra WINDOWS folder called "WINDOWS.0". This folder has the whole OS in it, WINDOWS folder has no files in it but a bunch of other folders. I have no idea how this happened... I want to try fix it without reformatting because I just spent forever transfering my data over. Oh and another thing was I had just installed one of those automatic Windows hotfix thingies.

Any suggestions?

the hot fix sounds like a spoof and your windows seams like you installed it more then once. you messed up bad and reformat is what you need
try putting the information back on the old harddrive

I'd agree, you have a double install of windows. If you got that "hot fix" anywhere but the windows update site that would be a bad thing for sure. I know you spent time and effort, but I would really suggest a reformat and start over. My guess it will be less of your time wasted in the long run.

Good luck

Yeah I was thinking of just reformatting, but the weird thing was that earlier in the day, it only had one Windows folder. Somehow the other one came about... Oh well, I guess it couldn't hurt to reformat..
