will using component cables on the wii make any differnce compared to using the standard av cables on a 42 inch LCD hdtv?

hahaha

ummmm...........................

YES. and thats a BIG, YES.

(I bet it looks like shit right now, eh?)

hmm.....
Dont see the harm, but personally I've only had bad experiances with off-brand A/V cables.
Why not go some place local, with a good return policy, to test?

Does Nintendo still not sell their component cable in stores?
I ordered mine direct, but that was when the Wii launched.

Component cables are HUGE if you are using a Wii on an HDTV. Nintendo sells their component cables at Best Buy, and stores such as EB Games for like $29.99. Buy it.

Those are the same ones that MonoPrice.com sells and they work great.

I got my set from there and once everyone saw them at the office i ended up ordering about 10 more. you cant beat the price and quality.

and there was a huge difference in quality on my 40" LCD

is there any settings i have to change for this?
If you have an HDTV you can go into the Wii settings and tell it to do 480p instead of 480i and tell it that you have a 16:9 screen. That might help some.
