Has anyone successfully written their own widget's yet?

Im making a call out for a Folding Widget if anyone has the ability.

I have a million ideas for widgets that I don't actually have time to code (but somebody else will, soon enough)

1) eBay widget for monitoring auctions

2) weather alert widget -- would work like the weather widget, but display additional info if there's a tornado warning in your area or something

3) [H]ard widget for monitoring subscribed threads

4) Widget that gets realtime data of your choice from www.heavens-above.com - for example, realtime tracking of the location of the ISS or any satellite, upcoming iridium flares, etc

i've been lookin for a widget that shows what is going on on a day from iCal. Kinda like the today screen on Outlook. Actually i'd like to find anything like that to go on my desktop, not neccessarily a widget...

I'm really digging Thud's idea for an [H] post monitor type widget, but due to a partially PC dominated board, one idea is to make a generic vBulletin Checker and it can connect to any VB??? With a generic board checker, I know there would be a lot more maccies on other boards that would like it/write it. ;)

once i get my powerbook back, ill start on some widget development. ive got a couple ideas a brewin.
