for christmas my dad got me this 6800gt and ppl told me to get the one w/ the green cover so i told him to give me the money for it and ill buy it but he tried to surprise me and got the one w/ the chrome cover and i wanted to know whats the difference between the one w/ the green and chrome which one is better
 
Your dad got you a 6800GT and you are bitching about if its the right one? Sheesh, kids these days... Go spend some time with your parents and thank them for the amazing gift and stop worrying so much.

They are all the f'ing same...to a certain extent. A 6800GT is a 6800GT just be happy you got kickass card from the highend spectrum from nVidia and like the other guy said be thankful to your dad, not as many people are as lucky as you
 
Do not act like this on x-mas kid, some people had nothing under their tree, and you are complaining about a 300 dollar gift.

If I knew whether or not there's a significant difference I'd tell you, but I really don't think you want to risk hurting someone's feelings by returning a gift for one that might have 5% better cooling.

Just slap an NV5 on there in a couple of months if you want to overclock
 
Don't sweat which card is supposed to be better.
Tell your Dad he got you the right one and that it rocks. He obviously cared enough to try and make your day, make his.

Then look up the exact card you got and see how to get the most from it by installing he latest drivers et al.

and trust me i couldnt hurt my dads feelings if i watned to...when i opened the gift the reciept was taped to it cause he knew he might not have gotten the right one he asked me if i wanted to take it back or not yall are makin it bigger than it is i am very much greatfull and it wouldnt hurt him at all if i said i wanted to take it back..GOSH!!
 
um... u had to have told ur dad he got u the wrong card for him to try to surprise u with another card. u do realize ur prolly hurtin his feelings and making it hard for him when infact u should be grateful... and at least try to be grateful... if my dad bought me somethin like that or tried to buy what he thought was the right card. i would be happy with it even if it wasn't the one i wanted. but too bad he won't do that. just cuz he doesn't say it doesn't mean he isn't hurtin inside. u never heard of the line "if u don't got anything nice to say, then don't say it". even if he isn't hurt u should at least show appreciation by pretendin it was the perfect gift... for him to even think this much of u to buy u such a expensive gift and at least attemptin to get what he thought was what u wanted just showed how much he cared. be grateful.
 
OMFG yall are all idiots...my dad isnt *hurting inside* wtf man we went looking for this card everywhere and couldnt find it and he went out the other day and thought it was the right one so he picked it up he is not hurt not one bit this is really annoying now cause he's actually reading this and laughing at me thinkin this is all funny just close this thread cause you guys did nothing to help me at all but tell me its christmas and be greatful and all that good stuff i am happy or i was until i read yall idiots posts ...your dad might be hurt if that happend but mine isnt ...if your just gonna tell me how i should be greatful dont post if your actually gonna help then plz post away..

what we posted isn't stupid, u are ungrateful. u complained about a present that was for u and was for free. i heard the ver2 of the dual cooler from BFG is not bad but i believe it was the first ver of the dual cooler card that had heatin troubles(correct me if im wrong).
 
Your poor, poor dad. Only trying to think of his son etc etc ;)

All the 6800GTs have adequate cooling and BFG wouldn't offer a lifetime warranty if they thought something was going to fail in a year because their fan wasn't up to it.

If you are serious about overclocking the card you are best off fitting an NV5 as I mentioned above - Gainward might have equivalent cooling on some of their GT range (I am speculating), but most board manufacturers use less effective cooling. If you aren't bothered about overclocking, keep what you've got and it will be fine.
 
There is no performance difference at all. Just because a cooler can drop the temperatures on a card a few degrees does not necessarily mean better overclocking or extra frames per second. Overclocking cards is fun but your not going to notice an extra 2 or 3 frames per second. Your father got you a kick ass card. ;) Enjoy!!

Oh please, he didn't ask for a "Christmas Carol" lesson from you guys. The BFG dual blower fan cooler is just fine. Just check your temps. If they're a little off you can check to make sure the cooler is properly seated, but I've never had a problem with mine, and in my system its about 52 @ idle, 74 @ OC'ed load.

P.S. you shouldnt use words like fag :mad:

im with u on this one, if he gave u the reciept then dont worry what these other guys are saying take it back if u want, im sure he wants nothing more then for u to be happy even if u get a diff one ignore those guys saying "how can u complain??"
