Im looking to get a 23-24in ips monitor (because i heard it gives the best colors) thats around 25-300 price range.Im going to use this for mainly watching 1080p blue ray anime and some gaming so im looking for very good colors. Ive also thought about waiting until say Christmas for the possibility of new models coming out and sales, but i dont know if theyre r even any comming out then lol.

If found that the dell u2311H and the HP zr24w are favorable for that price range. Any1 have ideas on which is the better monitor? Or are there any other monitors out there that r just as good/better or going to come out that r better?

The u2410 seems to be highly recommended also, but unless i can get it for 350 or less, i probably wont touch it.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The Dell U2311H is currently the best. It has accurate color presets, the highest contrast ratio and deepest blacks by far, and it is the most responsive of the bunch.

The U2410 is an over priced peice of garbage with it's medicore contrast ratio and slower response time, the only positive it has going for it is its size. Colorful anime will look lifeless and dull on the U2410. Same thing goes for the HP, but it has a slightly better contrast ratio then the U2410, still both monitors won't look nearly as good as the U2311H.

^ He got it from the review he posted. http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2311h.htm

"This test returned pleasing results. Input lag ranged from 0 - 30ms, but on average was only 10.6ms. This was a very good performance and very comparable to the HP ZR24W (10ms) we tested recently, and to the NEC EA231WMi (8.8ms) which is the U2311H's obvious competitor. The input lag was a little better than on the 24" U2410 (14.4ms) and certainly better than the 27" U2711 model (30ms). Very good performance here and this shouldn't present any real problem to even hard core gamers."

The U2311 isn't faster than the U2410, where did you get that from?
According to DigitalVersus, it's the other way around.

Average ghosting over 10 frames
U2410 0,4 colored, 0,3 transparent

Average ghosting over 10 frames
U2311 0,7 colored, 0,4 transparent

And if you use the wide gamut mode on the U2410, things certainly won't look lifeless and dull!

Thing is, digitalversus isn't really all that good a reference when compared to places such as TFTcentral, which he got that figure from.

Also, wide gamut mode over saturates colours, which is a hit and miss with some people.

Motion performance also can vary depending on luminance. For example DV calibrates to 200cd/m2 while TFT calibrates to 120cd/m2, so it is possible for the response times to vary (hence TFT saying to 2311 is faster while DV says the 2410 is).

Also over saturating colors doesn't make up for the medicore black depth the U2410 has. The Dell U2311H will always look better sense it bascially doubles the U2410's contrast.

Digital Versus is one of the better review sites. They usually get the same results as most other places. I've even calibrated a few monitors and gotten identical results to DV. They are definately better than FlatPanelsHD which pretty much always calibrates to different luminance and gets poor results compared to every one else.

hrm so u2311h would be better than the zr24w also? are there going to be any newer models of icp that would make the u2311h not worth the buy in 2-3 months?
