What would be better?

I've bought a new PC (though still waiting for delivery). But I've got a dilemma - which audio would be better - my old Sound Blaster Live! (CT4830) or onboard Realtek ALC889A (Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3). I heared that this SB has only 4 channels. I mainly listen to the music (2.1 creative speakers) and play Battlfield 1942.

Thanks in advance.

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1249216 - I found similar topic, though, it seems my SB is slighthly worse. Is it still worth putting it in?

For the average listener, the onboard sound of the DS3 is more than OK, in that case, it all comes to the quality of the speakers.
If you are a gamer, an X-FI would be sweet, as long as you stay out of Vista.

If you are looking for an audiophile solution, an M-Audio Audiophile 192, would be a great start.

Between the DS3 and your SB, I'd stay with the DS3.
