also, i have an intel cp, but my 1md is in the mail, cant i just uninstall the intel mobo drivers, and then switch the hard ware, and install the new dirvers, instead of a format?

You will have to reformat when you install a new motherboard.

About the only way to reinstall Windows without totally losing everything is to do the following. When Windows is running through it's setup routine, it'll tell you that a copy of Windows is already installed on the drive, it'll ask you what to do. Tell it to erase the current version (I believe you have to press the "L" key...it's been awhile). It'll delete your current version of Windows (it'll actually just delete the Windows folder) and reinstall the new version.

You WILL lose program keys and program registrations. However, you will not lose your documents or anything else that's on the drive.

A repair install often does the trick, but if the two motherboards are similar, ie: 430tx to 440bx, not the same, but some matching features, it'll screw up big time.

You'd be muuuch better off just taking the long route and backing everything to disc and doing a fresh format with fresh drivers, then deleting the old Windows installation and installing a new one. Trust me on this, you'll end up doing it anyway.
