On Win7-64 I just tried renaming a folder so the NVidia driver installer wont see it.
But I found something peculiar when putting a space then period at the end of a folder name, the folder vanishes!

ie folder named "update.core"
changed to "update.core ."
It disappears even with show hidden and system files, + all hide options turned off.

Does anyone know why?

Pressing F5 gets it back again.

I can put spaces and periods at the end of my filenames all day, no problem.

Correction, you can "try" to put periods and spaces at the end of the filename but windows will not let you do that, it will simply be ignored
