What specs for CS:Source?

I want to run CS:source flawlessly and by the look of the videos/ screenshots i have seen it is gonna need a good setup to run it.

what do u guys think is the minimum to run it perfectly? 6800nu and a A64 3000+ 1 gig ram do the trick or what?

I bet a 2.8 p4 with 9800 pro and 512 PC3200 would do it, oh that's what I have!
 
Finally CS gamers will have reason to justify their tricked out systems...

It always cracks me up to see guys with OC'd etc. systems to play a 6 year old game.

Not to bash; I play CS myself... I just find it amusing.

pentium 4 3.0 ghz
1 gb pc3200 ddr ram
nvidia 5900 ultra

^^^^ System runs it hella good for nvidia cards blowing so much, i dont go below 40 fps. Eat that ati.
 
To run the game decently, I assume you need along the lines of:
2.4GHz P4
Radeon 9600XT
512MB

Yeah, for NVIDIA cards supposedly being so horrible in the game mine performs great.

cs:s is not a 6 year old game.
 
No, but the original counter-strike is based on 6 yr old technology. He's pointing out that people have like a 2.4C @ 3.2 and all they play is Counter-Strike.... whats the friggin point?
 
^^^ What he said. CS:S is basically CS *ported* to the Source engine, which is the same engine HL2 is built on. So in essence its a remake of the old CS on a completely new game engine.

Comparing CS:S to old CS is *akin* to comparing original Doom to Doom3. Completely different engines all together (aside from Doom3 not being an exact remake of Doom, but you get the point).

FPS is pretty shit, runs at like 30 - 60 fps.
